bridging mining construcion

Post by taloncigar »

Hallo I hope somebody can help me. I have just installed the JTCS and applied the 1.04 patch. I read that there is a new interesting feature in this version (actually in the 1.03 already), the possibility of bridging (mean build a bridge?), mining (lay a minefield?) and building (what?).
How can I use such features? I can't see any new command on the menu. How shlould I manage these feature during the scn editing?
Thank you

In game you highlight an engineer, go to the "unit" drop down menu. Under "turn clockwise" you will see a link for "build a lt bridge", "Lay a vehicle Bridge", "lay a minefield", etc.
Also, pages 174 & 175 have information in sections 21.6 & 21.7. [:)]

Good luck and good gaming!

In the current manual under section 5.17 and 21.0 and following is everything about the new units.
Read carefully and try it out in  small sandboxes before getting into something big.

The loading and unloading of the boats and ferries and the respective hexes on a map need good considerations depending on what units you try to transport (foot or carriages).

Thank you for yor answer, but I still can't do it. I can't understand why but the West Front I start from the JTCS start menu, is identical to my old west front I had previously installed on my PC. Except for the new units I could find in the OOB editor, none of them seems to behave any different from the others. Map editor is identical, ex tiles are identical, and gaming too is the same in all, even if there is some new scn. There is any menu>units>turn clockwise>'command for engineers' on my menu. Also in the manual I start from the JTCS start menu there is not a page 174 (pages end at 140)
I wonder if  some previous file, from the old version, hided somewhere, can create such a problem. The installation story is:
a)first I had WF/EF/RG the GOLD version, installed and working on my program folder
b)then I purchased, downloaded and installed the JTCS. This went on another folder. Both the versions worked properly.
c)I downloaded and installed the JTCS updateDR vers. 1.03 then the JTCS updateDR vers. 1.04
d)eventually I unistalled the old versions of the three games.
Except for the presence of the new units in the oob, the rest of the gane is the same.
I really badly need those features for my scenarios. How can I fix the stuff?
Thank you

Deinstall JTCS

Then do a clean new install of JTCS, apply the 1.04 patch into the same folder where you installed JTCS new, after that everything should be fine ;-)
You should have the new OOBs and the new manual.

This rings a bell for me.. I remember the same issue several years ago with 2 versions on the same hard drive and they were the riginal versions of EF2 WF and RS and I installed the Gold versions also and had all kinds of issues. I think I uninstalled both versions and re-installed the gold version the get it working. Unfortunately all the home made scenarios were junk and didn't work in the gold version.... oh well...... Good luck with it. This is my war story
What's with the negative waves?
