Naval Questions

Post by balto »

I was hoping someone could answer these Naval Questions:

1) Base chance of detecting convoy = 10%. Raiders chance 5%. So is this saying that all other things being equal, RAIDER status only increases your convoy detection chances over FLEET mode by 5%?

2) I think I am misinterpreting most of section 12.9. Here are my questions related to this section of the manual starting with the third paragraph:

(2a) If there is a detection and only one of the fleets has a CV.., there is a chance there will be no battle? Is this correct? If so, then is having a CV a bad thing for a superior navy because the enemy can now slip away after detection? Right?

(2b) So if you both have CVs or you both have no CVs.., then when you detect, you always fight? Is this right?

(2c) The fourth paragraph of 12.9. If you have that situation where one fleet has a single CV and the other does not have any CV, and you are both at the same tech level, the chance of a battle (after detection) is 21%. Is this correct? And if it is, then if the fleet with a CV is at a lower technology (one level) then the fleet without a CV, then the chance of a battle is 1% after detection? Is this correct?

3) What are the base chances of a Fleet detection by another Fleet? Are they the same as a convoy., 10%?

I am sorry if I have this all wrong. I am just trying to get my head around the Naval part.

Thank you.

Sorry for the delay.

1. The modifiers means that catching a convoy depends on the convoy size and if the fleet is a raider, then the chance is multiplied by the raider modifier.

2a) You are right, but explainig it in other way. There is a chance that only aircrafts from superior fleet will track and attack enemy ships and after that they will run away without engage.

2b) Yes, but in the first case you will no CV attack on enemy fleet

2c) This is a chance to detect and engage into the battle.
