Help with PBEM? Glitch?

Frank Hunter's Campaigns on the Danube is an operational study of the campaigns along the Danube in 1805 and 1809. Campaigns on the Danube's system focuses on trying to present the player with the same sort of decisions placed on their historical counterparts; how to feed an army and move that army according to a plan, all the while trying to fight a campaign. There is also an option to allow players to play out the battles with miniatures and input the results.

Help with PBEM? Glitch?

Post by Kai »

Here is the situation.

I am trying to play a game of Campaigns on the Danube solitare against myself. (I want to try different things, and see how the game handles it.)

So, I set up a PBEM game as French, play a turn, end the turn, and it tells me to send the files to the other player and shuts down the game.

I start the game again, load the game (this time as the Austrians) and play a turn. I end the turn, and it tells me to send the files to the other player and shuts down the game.

Everything is fine so far.

However, the next time I start up the game and load the PBEM files (this time as the French), I am stuck. I can't control anything. The units and their information show up, but there is no orders panel. I can't give any commands.

I have tried this several times, all with the same effect. It always does this on the 2nd French turn.

Anyone else experienced this?
Any help?

Have you executed the turn yet?

I end the turn, but can't start the 2nd turn.

I'm wondering if this is not a bug but is actually a built-in protection against copying the game, as I am trying to play both sides on the same computer running the same copy of the software. If it's a copy protection thing, the program may not allow me to play because it detects the same serial number being played by both sides.

When you reload, there is a process that you have to go through with pressing the hour glass button along the top or bottom of the menu to actually process the moves before you can play the next turn...wondering if you did that.....

My copy of CotD isn't working right now, otherwise I see if I can make a screenshot for you....

Yes, I pressed the hourglass. That's what takes me to the prompt to send the files to the other player.

Yeah there is a process of replay or something like that after sending it to the other player and I am having problems articulating what it is. Once I download the game I will try to see what it is and see if that is the issue....I hope to be able to download it this weekend.
