Pilots fate

Hello everyone,
I am just about to dig my way into the WiTP-series starting with WPO as it appears to me to be the one the easiest to access. We will see.
One question on pilots: pilots that are removed from the squadron because the planes had been shot down, are they lost forever, considered KIA, or will they return? I understand the WiTP-AE makes a destinction between KIA, MIA with some pilots returning. What about WPO?

I think KIA is pretty much gone forever; MIA has a chance to show up again, but very small; and WIA will come back ok sometime. Think it;s the same with WitP and WitP AE.

Thanks, that was also my understanding of how it works in WiTP. Is it the same in WPO although KIA/MIA etc. is not explicitly displayed? Any chance some of my aces will return?
