Surrender issues!

Post by MarshallEllis »

Hey guys:

FYI...I am working several surrender issues. It looks like the main issues are the remove 3 corps is not working AND it looks like that there is a MAX of 3 conditions period. SO if MP A surrenders unconditionally to MP B, MP C and MP D then the only the first condition of each would be implemented.

It looks as if this has been in the code for a while and should not be new to 1.06.

Will keep you posted!
Thank you

While you are in there, can you change the code to have only two provinces be ceded as part of a conditional surrender? The code for the original EIA version (one home nation, if occupied and one minor) is probably too much to ask, but dropping it from 3 to 2 (for conditionals) would work better.

One other thing that needs work is displaying the size of fleets for surrender purposes. It would be good if there were a parenthetical notation of the size alongside each fleet in the surrender terms display.

In 1.07 I'm definitely seeing problems I haven't seen before, different from those you list above. Specifically, even if only one country is surrendered to, it can take only one peace condition (except that sometimes it works correctly and implements three conditions; only pattern I can discern is it seems to work OK for France but not others). I can post a file if you want.

Yes, please because I cannot see this when only one victor is involved!

Just a question: How is possible such a HUGE problem passed playtest unnoticed?

More in general: why these basic situation aren't tested by a single tester running an entire pbem game on his machine? You can play 7 different nations
on your machine to create the most common situations (like France surrendering unconditionally to an alliance) artificially and in almost no time...

Ashtar:

Actually, it was the testers that originally found this. I just had not circled back around to see it yet.
BTW: This is NOT isolated to PBEM.

It's a weird bug....
In a pbem game just finished (where my prussians finished in a bitter second place....) France surrendered conditionally to russia, prussia and austria.
I remember that there was not any surrender issue, meaning that we obtained the options we choosed in a perfectly regular way.
The single options were not doubled and the game followed the right order to implement the surrender conditions.
It happened a long time ago (one year ago more or less), under a previous patch (I don't remember the number).
Is it possible that this bug is born with the most recent patches?
