Garrison bug and a suggestion.

Empires in Arms is the computer version of Australian Design Group classic board game. Empires in Arms is a seven player game of grand strategy set during the Napoleonic period of 1805-1815. The unit scale is corps level with full diplomatic options

Garrison bug and a suggestion.

Post by Skanvak »

I try to put a garrison in an open area without a city but with a depot.

The program asked me if I want to create a garrison then it say that there is no city. I have option to add garrison to the depot too. But shouldn't the program know there is no city and directly go to the add forces to depot and not ask me between something I can do and something I cannot?

I would like a possibility to cancel corps / leader placement during rienforcement.

A possibility to cancel production too would be nice.

Best regards

Depot

Place re-inforcements on them as you would a Corps, do not use GARR button.

Depot
Use transfer factor button if moving troops from Corps to Depot.

Production

Cancel button is available while building, Auto-Save lets you go back and re-do Reinf from scratch if already on order.

If you have 20INF arriving in Sept (for example) you are not required to place them they will be destroyed if you END PHASE.

Do you mean something else?

Corps & Leaders

Adding Leaders to map is voluntary not mandatory. By detaching leader from Corps and ending phase the Leader returns to pool.

Corps markers are much the same as Leader except there is a remove Corps button for empty Corps and AUTO-SAVE REINFORCEMENTS let you start phase over if you misplaced something.

Or, do you mean something else?

I don't ask how to do things here. I ask if it is WAD. the add to GARR bouton work well but it offer an option that is just non-existent in the situation : their is no city to create Garrison only a depot. But it still offers me to create a GARR (the city type not adding unit to the depot, that is the second option that is working). I hope I am clear or I should post a screen shot.

When you cancel corps placement, the corps need to be re-bought. I suggest that if you do that in the phase you placed it you don't need to re-buy it and could put it elsewhere immediatly. Same thing for leader, if you withdraw a leader you will have to wait next phase, that not a cancellation of placement. The idea is to not have to use the auto-save...

I was suggesting that if I open the building windows it will remind what I am building and allow me to change it without starting from scratch...

I dont think its a bug, but possible flaw in design.
As far as i recall if no depot, you dont get the options if you select the trans factors to garrison in open (if you do then yes it would be a bug).

About corps/leader placement. Well again i think this was decided in design,
possibly alot more coding would be required to keep track of factors/corps/leaders.
Same goes for Production.

I guessing the plan is to reduce bugs first, maybe optional rules,
then later the interface could be improved if time permits.
