Preliminary looking for Japs to 2 vs 2 game
Hi,
I am preliminary looking for two Jap players dedicated to play the grand campaign to the (bitter) end.
I am interested in playing multiplayer campaign game for a long time, but I was waiting for AE to come out and now waiting for patch no2. [:)]
I am fairly skilled and higly motivated allied player with experience begining with UV, then WITP - I played three PBEMs until now, unfortunately all of them come to the end when my oponents quit unsuspectedly.[:@]
I have a friend who is noob, but is interested in playing the game - this way I could guide and advice him better then playing against him.
Biggest advantages I see in 2 vs 2 game are:
1. if one of the player drops out (temporarily or definitely) the other is able to continue with the game
2. divided command responsibilities (as to exact dividing this should be a matter of debate)
I think the best opponents should be from America or Japan. As me and my friend are in +1 timezone (Central Europe) and usually have time to play in the evening, the other team could be playing in their own evening. With this set-up we can even manage 1 turn per day.

Place doesnt matter so much.
What are your experiences against AI? Have you played Japs? What is your experience with WITP or AE so far?
I have had a look on Japs and it is pretty arduous to have everything sorted, clear, and planned from the begining.
PS: In fact playing myself as Japan against my noob friend as allies is the second possibility, in case the attempt for 2vs2 game will not be succesfull.

RE: Preliminary looking for Japs to 2 vs 2 game
Well, I played the GC against the allies in witp well into '44, with automatic victory in '43. (My only game, because i bought the game last year
)
In AE i'm in '42 april currently, and I think I'm beginning to grasp the way the Jap economy should be handled, but there is still a lot to learn
, and I do learn something new every 10 turns or so
.
So i would say i'm fairly experienced against the ai, but pbem is a different matter entirely...

RE: Preliminary looking for Japs to 2 vs 2 game
Well this could make a nice 2 vs 2 game... on each side one "more experienced" and one "newbie". The friend that will be playing with me has a nick winchi (he is not very active on the forum, but I am speaking with him on skype daily).
1. What is your normal "playing" time realted to Greenwich time?
I and winchi are customarily able to play in 20-24PM timeframe, weekends vary.
2. What are your custom settings or special House Rules preferred for a game?
3. We should wait for Patch 2 before we begin our game. I hope there will be restricted areas
4. Think about what responsibility division "lines" would you like to follow. Branch, compact area, mixed areas, or some else?
5. Think about what "gameplay" do you like to follow - more/less historical, pushing the limits, ...
In the begining we could communicate here, the later communication about details by mail.
Thanks for answering the call.

RE: Preliminary looking for Japs to 2 vs 2 game
1: My free time varies thoughout the week, but I will most certanly have time for a minimum of 1 turn/day
2: Do you mean the realism options? If so, variable reinforcements on extreme, and player defined upgrades on. This also answers your fifth question: I'd like to bring the most out of the japs. But if we agree on a more historical setup, that's fine too...
3: Yes, we should definitely wait
4: I love china too
, but I guess IJN remains for me then(which i like much more then china
)....I think the best division would be the "traditional" IJA "vs" IJN one, I think it would be easier to manage, but i'm open to suggestions
5: Pushing the limits if possible
. This also means that i'd like to play on scen 2.
And I'd also like to play it to the bitter end.

2. hmm, I dont like extreme reinforcements too much. Imagine two crucial american carriers delayed for two months ...
I like fixed or 15 days
4. Well, I am still thinking about Allied one. I have to talk about this with winchi. Basic division should be POA, SWPAC, SEA, CHINA + Russia as bonus ... I will talk to him in an our or so.
5. If possible I do like scenario 1, as I dont like Japanese New Zealand by april much... What does Antrax thing about this? I will have to check what exactly the scen 2 has as a bonus.. [:)]

RE: Preliminary looking for Japs to 2 vs 2 game
Hmmm... as far as i know in scen 2 there are more resources stockpiled, and higher experience for new pilots (also more pilots in the pool overall).
35 exp (both IJA and IJN) in scen 1 from '41 to '46
vs
40 (IJA) and 50 (IJN) in '41 and '42.
40 and 45 in '43
40 and 40 in '44
37 and 40 in '45
I actually consider this a (bit) better overall representation of jap pilot training(in terms of exp), then the one in scen 1.
BTW imagine those carriers 60 days earlier
that's not bad, right?

Mi final words:
1.Playing time:any free time.
2.As historical as can be with the surprise attacks on Pearl and the rest of their corrupt empire.
3.We can start now ,as a try pre-game to seee some different things.
And we restart ,with or without adjustments after the update.
4.I want the IJN.
The Carriers are Japan's only chance down there.
The IJN can defeat any opponent the first year.
5.I wxould like scen 2 as it gives the Japs a chance to stay in the war.
Till the last Jap,I'm ready.

RE: Preliminary looking for Japs to 2 vs 2 game
2: Historical it is then...
3: I agree with this one
4: And with this one too, the more experienced player should have the most important assets of our Empire
So as a starter you are fine with a clear cut IJA/IJN division? Then I'll happily take IJA
. What about industry then?
5: Couldn't agree more...

Antrax: What about fixed/variable reinforcements?
I fear variables because that could mean Task forces that arrived together (like CV+Escorts) or Important Convoy (troops and their cargo ships) arrives months apart.
3. Planning could be started, but there is one thing about Patch. Once you have started a game, only game mechanics will be affected by Patch. So we will have to start the 1st turn from scratch... [X(]
5. I will take a closer look on it [:D]

RE: Preliminary looking for Japs to 2 vs 2 game
Dear Partner,
I'm glad you agree on the three points.
So,
IJN=mine
IJA=yours
My navy will do anything to hold the US of our backs for at least 1 year.
Or more.
I can also lead the attacks on the Filippines and Malaya ,and all the atolls, maybe even Australia.
After the capture your IJN takes over.
Scen 2 is a must,or no game.
Regards to all,
John(YAMAMOTO)
The industry will be yours,as you can better coordinate our needs with our power and the terrain youcapture in China and in India or further.

I'm ready for the starter.
My comrade in arms can choose our codeword.
I REPEAT
THIS IS ONLY A TRIAL
When the upgrade is out ,we restart ,no matter the outcome.
John
That's all I will say.

Ok,
For me the starter may be launched now.
The more we learn now , the better our real game will be.
And above that, I'm open to fix strange things like CV's entering without their escort etc.
Where the designers failed, we can adapt.
Start it up now , and let me know our codeword, o divine Emperor.

RE: Preliminary looking for Japs to 2 vs 2 game
Huh...we are in agreement then!
Industry is a big task...I'll do my best to keep us afloat!
Hmmm... Where does this place the responsibilities of managing resource convoys from SRA?
And the supply of small islands out in the Pacific? You manage the supply of territories under your jurisdiction, and i manage mine (Asian mainland)? Do we use the auto-convoy system?
How does the usage of ships works under this system? Will there be divided pools for us to use cargo ships from, or how do i have to imagine this? (This is why it would be good to have a "warmup" session...)
Another thing: is turning player defined upgrades on totally out of the question? (This is important for me, because it (obviously) affect airframe production to a great degree)
How do we communicate after we start? E-mails, or some sort of instant messaging?
Which time zone are you in? (I'm GMT+1)
