Midgame 423 scenario?

Post by jackyo123 »

hi folks

does anyone know of any early/mid/late 1942 full campaigns? I don't want to play out the month of december again (too tiring, too similar, etc)

Something that starts around mid year would be ideal, probably post midway, but any full campaigns starting in 42 would be fine.

If i had time/knowledge I would create this scenario myself!

thanks

ahh too bad. I thought I saw something over on the WITP board about later starting 'campaigns' .

if we could extract a savegame and use it as a base for creating a scenario, then it might be easy to get all the starting positions right. would need to just then graft on the ai pieces from the grand campaign minus the early opening moves....

maybe a tool idea? ;>

Sounds like a good idea for a mod....

The database differences between AE and WitP are too vast for a simple conversion of a scenario from WitP to AE....

However you could probably use a mid war scenario as a starting point for OOB info for a mod.

WITP does have some later starting campaigns.

WITP-AE does not.

In a nutshell if you want it someone has to build it. And that will be a large amount of work and research (to get it "right").

Good luck.

I know that WITP has an August 7 1942 start campaign game, don't know how accurate its OB is.

And that's the real bitch. WiTP was a lot more abstract. AE has considerably more detail, so accurate OOB analysis becomes highly problematic, as well as taking almost as long as developing the opening day OOB (even with all its blivets).

If jackyo123 has a couple years to wait, and we can find people willing to spend a couple years to grind through everything, he might just get lucky.

The August '42 start in WiTP is the one that starts with the Guadalcanal campaign I do believe. Wouldn't it be possible to use the GC scenario in AE as a starting point and flesh out the rest of the Map for a larger and later starting Grand Campaign ?

Literally tens of thousands of data entry changes. Take a couple years to get everything right.

Possible ??? Yeah, possible. Go for it!
