Screen Resolution Question

Post by Krotos »

The SPWaW manual says that the screen resolution has been increased to 800 x 600 I beleive. Needless to say, this is a good thing, but I find the graphics still a bit too pixelated. Is there any way to further increase the resolution of the ingame maps and icons? If yes, how do I do this. In other words, how do you change screen resolution? I have looked, and simply cant see how to do it.

Please help.:)

You can't change the game resolution. But you can do a lot to change the WAW graphics, depnding upon your graphics card and monitor. I have an GeForce3 and Samsung 19" DynaFlat. nVidia installs a "Color Correction" tab to the Properties \ Advanced utility. Via this the apperance of the WAW icons can be altered dramatically.

If you want to change the way the textures are rendered, it is a different proposition. Assuming you have a video card capable of accepting settings changes, a freeware utility such as RivaTuner will help a lot. You can change the texture rendering so much you might not recognize what you are seeing.

I run my desktop at 1240 x 1024 x 32 and many new games at 1600 x 1200 x 32. WAW at clunky old 800 x 600 comes off very well when I install "quality" preset paramteres via Rivatuner.

In particular, since there is so much of it in the game, adjusting the green channel alone can make a striking difference. Once you start doing the sort of thing discussed above, it becomes second nature. I have a specific save of WAW color correction, it works great.
