Paratroop problem

Post by Shilka »

Hi.

I encountered a strange 'feature' with paratroops. I try to parashoot a Raiding regiment from Bangkok to Tavoy, and they seem unwilling to do it. The transport squad sets its mission from Transport to Supply.

Ok, I then re-run the turn and this time set the target to Mergui, and now it works perfectly. I thought it was a bug or something, and tried to shoot them to Tavoy again, but again no go. I just can't figure what's the difference here. The range to the two bases is the same (3).

I encountered this problem as well. But the reason why they won't fly to the base seems to be that there are enemy aircraft at the base.

SO, if you don't own Tavoy and there are any type of aircraft at Tavoy(fighters, bombers transports, does not matter which), the planes won't fly. Or at least that what I experienced.

I took a peek on the Allied side, there isn't any aircraft at the start of the turn. [:(]

Ok, I don't have any intel on either base, but I put Oscars flying escort on the same altitude with the transports, but still they're afraid.
Maybe a bit far off fetched, but the *last* intel I had on Tavoy was that their were fighters based there. So in reality there isn't any more, but could it be that transports are using some kind of relic intel, even though I currently don't have any.

Another thought I initially had, that since I also don't own Mergui, could it be that the paras don't want their flank 'exposed'? So Mergui is at the end of the path in enemy hands, though there isn't any kind of assets. Seems unlikely but still...

Strange indeed

I've had couple problems like this. I did send in a save way back when (probably original release) on one but I lost track of it.

You might post a save on the Tech Support forum. I know I have seen this problem several times. I have never figured out what the specific factors are that triggered it but there seemed to be certain locations (or combinations of locations) that were problematic.

It can happen with air transport too.

Not 100% sure I've seen it on the current patch - you are patched up, correct? (Not that I recall anything being stated about a fix)

I am fully patched and I have had this happen a number of times. It has even happened when I am simply air transporting LCUs between my own bases.

If not a combat drop, try putting the para in move mode.[;)]

In the cases I've seen, the mission resets from "troop" to "supply". I agree there are legitimate reasons they may not fly on a given turn but then the mission should remain troop.

Ok. Problem is 'solved' now. Previously I had 1.084D patch, and updated it to E, and it still didn't make any difference. No matter, since I started a new game with the new patch, and this time the para-mission worked between those same destinations. And I checked, it definately wasn't about weather.

Thanks to all
