Auto Save Disabling

Post by NAVMAN »

Greetings:
There are two(2) auto saves taking place ea turn, one(1) in slot 000(autosave)
and one in slot 0002(PreTurn).
Is there a way to disable one(1) or both of these auto saves. Tried using switch
"-fw" but that did not seem to help.

Thx

The saves serve two different purposes.
(a) the 000 one is at the end of the turn, before you place  the orders for the new turn
(b) the 002 one is at the start of the turn before it resolves itself. This save is the one needed for devs to track down any issues that might crop up.

The 002 ones is also handy if the turn dies (for whatever reason like losing power) in that you just reload it and go.

[I know if I turn it off, then the next minute something drastic will happen and the devs will need the save before execution.]

Michael,
Thx for the reply. For those of us who like to live on the edge, how does one disable
either or both save functions? You seem to suggest that there may be a way to do so.
Thx.

Use -w (windowed) or -f (full screen).
This should stop the 000 save IIRC (the -wd and -fd do the daily save for windowed and full respectively)

Michael:
Thx for the info. The reason behind this is that the save game folder is approx 6.5 megs
and growing. I want to cut down the growth factor and not have to go in and
manually delete files as much as I am now. Thx again.
