The Kiel Canal

Post by AH4Ever »

I'm trying to re-establish direct movement between Kiel and Bremen. In sea_edges.csv lines 182 & 183 seems to be where it is restricted.

Is this true and if so what needs to be modified to allow the change?

Solution:

Add two new lines to the sea_edges.csv. These should read:

1;66;114;73
66;1;114;73

Make sure there's no empty space in the formulas. You can now move via Bremen and the Baltic Sea if you have control of hex 114,73. This change will be in the next ETO-update.

Thanks AH (which I take for granted stands for Avalon Hill). [:)]

No Thank You!

I never would have figured it out on my own. I was stuck on trying different changes to these lines:

56;66;-1;-1
66;56;-1;-1

Just curious do you know what these lines do, if they don't control movement between the 2 ports?

I'm not sure why you can't move between point 56 and 66. The only reason I can think of is that they're both ports. But then again, so is some other locations which you can move to without passing water. Beats me, really.

I tried to block the possibility to move from certain Italian port to NA without having to first cross the Med, but this failed.

Once again, thank you

Making this change during a PBEM game shouldn't have any adverse effect correct?

Don't suppose so. The only thing I can think of, is that the developers did it that way to prevent the AI from some odd convoy-path thinking. But I wouldn't really know.

Save now and then and see where it takes you.
