? Allied LST's etc. ?

How do you use them?

Currently I am concentrating them at Milne Bay for future short-legged operations (like supply to Buna, Goodenough, etc.) now that I have air superiority in the region.

Am I missing something here?

LSTs are ocean going.  Are you thinking of the shorter legged landing craft/barges?

I know they are ocean going, but I have plenty of ships with more endurance and more capacity to move supply where I need to.

The LCI's are faster, but don't have the legs or the capacity.

So my current plan is to slowly build up all the odd stuff at Milne, while ferrying in troops on all those dinky xAPs and xAKs that have been swinging on the hook at Perth and Adelaide since the great Java bugout. Then I can use the APA's and AKA's in the south and central Pacific.

They do tend to make landing troops a little easier during low tide.

Use LSTs in Amph TFs for ARM / ARTY units - you need the APAs & AKAs for INF type units. Vehicles and guns take up more 'space' when loaded on AP vessels, so optimising the loads for more efficient discharge in a contested landing is essential (especially atolls). I also add the LCIs for carrying the support squads of ARM / ARTY units.

For resupply and buildup operations, using LSTs for supply is a waste; better use them for moving the larger equipment items from construction units and baseforces.

At least they would be safe from Netty torpedo attacks if used like that in the PTO [:D]
