Withdrawal = Surrender??

Post by Michael T »

Maybe this one has been fixed in 1.07. But I am playing against the AI as French in 1.06.03. I was in a battle against a stack of Russian Corps, I sucessfully withdrew (Davout was in command) from the battle with a single corp. When I returned to the normal screen after the battle I could not locate my corp with Davout. For some reason I checked the prisoners box and there was Davout and his 19I, POWs of the Russians!

Has this been fixed in 1.07?

I ask because after a long long break from this game (we stoppped because of so many bugs) we are going to start a new PBEM game with the official release of 1.07.

TIA

I had not run into that one. (And I have seen quite a few withdraws succeed and fail...) Where you on an island or near a crossing arrow or in restricted terrain somehow?
Suggest you report on Mantis...

Sorry I no longer have the file, I resumed the game from a previous save and avoided that confrontation. It was the first time I had a successful withdrawal in the game. I am not a newbie, I know how the game playes. I had the corp in Russia, not surrounded or anything else extraordinary. I selected withdraw, these message came up with successful, you know the rest. I know there have been problems with units dissapearing in the game, is it possible that some have been made POW's without the players knowledge and then just reporting the units as missing. Just an thought. If I get the time I will try and replicate it. Sorry about not having the file, I just kind of figured this one would have come up previously.

I haven't touched the game since a 1.03 version ages ago. I had a blast playing 1.06.03, no bugs at all up until this one in July 1808. Thanks for all the hard work Marshall, I think this game is just about there! :)

My buddies and I are eager to have another go at PBEM with 1.07

The corp was at the Brest-Litovsk area. Certainly the area was not surrounded by Russians and the corp was not in the city.

No winter movement option. It was in fine weather.
