Problems using Editor

Post by Buck Beach »

I am experiencing some problems using the editor that are most likely due to my own ignorance in using it.

I had saved one of the official scenarios (Dec 8th start #6) as a new scenario 103 for the purposes of tweaking and adding some ship classes and ships as well as a couple of bases. This is sort of a work file for me that I was hoping to harvest some of the entries and include them into a new or tweaked scenario after Da Babes mod comes out and Patch 2. I have been working at this for a couple of months and had thought everything was going pretty good.

Ok, here are the problems I am having. A couple of the ships I have included I have pointed to Class 2581 T2-SE-A as a start on 411206 at Portland #513 and they show up in the scenario when I play it as a test, HOWEVER, no matter what I seem to do their configuration comes into the game as Class 2597 the 1943 version. I have checked and rechecked the paths and I appear to have done it correctly. So in trying to fix this I have changed their start bases, to LA and SF. Still show up in a new start wrong and in Portland. I then have eliminated the ships all together and they STILL show up in a new start. To further rip up and around my work scenario I tried to save my work file as scenario 101, BUT, when I do that the new 101 scenario comes in with the Original scenario 6 data in a new start.

This is bugging the hell out of me and I can't figure out what I am doing wrong. Is there anyone that can tell me if I am doing something breaching the basic Editor rules for any of the issues above.

Zip up the scenario and post it in tech support. Try using the command Save As... then open windows explorer and confirm that the date time stamp on the files have changed and the files are in the correct directory (SCEN).

Sounds like maybe he forgot to update the ships after he did the classes.

I am in the process of doing a complete reinstall at the moment. I may have screwed something up with some registry/disk clean up I did last week. I am resulting to this because when I tried to a test, by creating a brand new scenario off of the original 12/08/42 #6 it would not accept a data change addition a new ship using an existing class.

I will return after the results of the reinstall.

I got my feet back on the ground and I am running after a fresh install. My work data, when inserted back into the SCEN folder game is correctly being reflected.

Conclusion is that I did screw up the works with my system clean up and I will have to be more careful the next time.

Thank you both for your comments and offer to check over a save.

Best thing to do is go to the ships database, go to tools, use the set ships tools and set it for all ships of the country of origin, T is right, sounds like it didn't actually update them, running the tool might solve the issue.
