Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

I beleive when this project is to the point where they could give us a good estimate we will hear something. IMO, better this way, than to be teased with a date that winds up being impossible to meet.

Jim Wirth ("jaw") says the summer of 2010 is the current projected release date.  So let's hope for June 22nd, the anniversary of Barbarossa!

That being said, we have waited many years for the successor to WiR, so it's worth waiting as long as it takes to create a great game!

You're kidding, right? I'm surprised how few of these threads we've seen yet.

Well, may be people have learn from other game developpement.

Unless Matrix want to enforce a fix date, any date given will be meaningless and bring resentment. Let them give us a date when they are ready to take pre-order, before it is pointless.

Best regards

Gary & Co should take the time they need to make the game perfect. Who cares about a few years more or less since we are waiting for this game since ages.. [:)]

I was asking for an approximate release date, allow me to clarify I didnt mean an exact date but was wondering if it will be released in spring, summer or when ever.I agree they should take their time with testing etc.Unlike a recent title from another company that should not have been released and I shall not name, but some might know what title I am referring to [:D][:D][:D]

Sarge, if Matrix didn't want us speculating about release dates, they wouldn't set up a forum in the first place.

Matrix doesn't do pre-orders. They'll give you the date when it's available for purchase.

I would rather wait longer for better, and as someone has already pointed out, dates in game development are meanless.  We have a rough time frame, Summer of 2010, but if they need longer that is fine by me.  This is THE GAME I am waiting on.

We think we have the supply historical now. Theres still alot of research being done on production issues and scenarios. Guys relax, we don't want to put out a game like Second Front that was rushed. Matrix was a little hasty in anouncing its coming... Joel said we can give more screen shots, so after the holiday I plan to post some. Remember were still in alpha, and every week it changes for the better.

Damn I've been waiting for this to come out the day after I bought WIR which I bought they day it was released, what year and day was that BTW? Been too long though!

Finally, just hoping it comes in at the level of WITP_AE no doubt! No reason why it shouldnt?

Since it may be another 15 years or so until a WITE2 comes out I hope you guys do this one up big time!

Later!

Well the one thing I will say, this is a much more user friendly and free flowing game than WitP. I not saying this is not as historical, theres just to much in WitP to keep up with to make it real fun. This game is so much fun, and I've been testing it now for 20 months, and I'm not burnt out yet... It was a good week with additions and bug corrections, and we do it every week... Whatever the cost is at book signing day, pay the price, you won't regreat it...

The SSI copy-write date for the WIR Manual is 1993, but I bought an earlier version for the Atari during the 1980s, which shows how good it is, still on the hard-drive, still working. [:)]
