Crash reporting

Post by Tom_Holsinger »

Erik & Bob,

Please tell us how you want us to report crashes of Armada 2526. I just had a crash and copied the error information to a Wordpad file, and I have the saved game separate now. I am posting the error report text here (it is long, though) and uploading the file as a link within this message.

It might be easier for us, though, to email them to you separately. I suggest you create a link in this Tech Support fourm, with anti-spam codes, for us to simply click on to open a box for us to upload the error report and saved game to you, with a brief message about what we were doing when the crash occurred.

For the moment, though, I was trying to load some transports with population in my first game of the Twelve Races scenario when I had a crash. Here is the error text:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Thanks Tom, reporting them here is fine as we can all see them.

I have the same issue. I didn't do a file compare, but the exception and call chain are the same as reported here.

This occurs on my system intermittently, and seems related to the duration that I have the game process running. I show no spike in my system monitor for memory, but may not have caught it in time, or it may be related directly to the graphics card's memory.

My system is Windows 7 x64 with a NVidia GTX275 card with 896MB memory, driver is v191.07, and BIOS rev is 62.00.60.00.05.

Ping me if you want me to send the exception report or if there are any other details I should look for next time.

Nice work on the game! Please iron out these kinks when you can.

Regards,
Savaric

Im guessing the crashes might be somwhat game-related. I had zero crashes in my first 250 turn game. Now in my second game Im crashing all the time. Weird thing is I didnt change anything between the games except increased the size of the map on second game from 120x120 to somthing like 140x140 and set the directsound from low to high quality.

During the second game crashes I also had player and other background programs in windows. The player actually freezed when I played the game that ended into crash.

I think Ill try playing with all background stuff closed this time.

I have essentially the same error, using Windows XP, 2 GB, ATI graphics card. I was about turn 75 of a 120 by 120 game. Here's the full report below. In my case it came up as the game tried to draw the research screen.

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

The game does have a couple of memory leaks, that will be fixed in the upcoming patch.
