Game crashing to desk top

Gents -

Just downloaded the game and played most of the tutorial. When restarting the game from the Armada Icon on the desk top, there are long pauses before an action was completed or formulated. I started the "12 species" scenario. As the game loaded it froze after the "Player added, Human" message box came up. After exiting the game I found that the game will lock and the "Armada 2526 must close" window comes up when the initial menu is reached.

All of the recomended installations were installed on the computer.

My computer:

OS Windows XP Home
Version 2002
Service pack 2

AMD Athlon 64x2 Dual Core Processor 3800+
2.01 GHz. 2.00 GB RAM

NVida GeForce 9500GT

I will uninstall the game and try again; perhaps I have made a mistake during install. Thank you in advance for any help given.

Gents -

I reinstalled the game - no go. Upon initialization a "Armada 2526 must close" menu comes up. So - back to WitP AE and hope for a solution in the future. I still think that it has potential, but will wait until a patch or workaround comes into play.

I downloaded and upgraded my Nvidia GeForce drivers; the game has loaded and seems to be running normally; am really pleased to be able to play.
