too easy? my 2 first games = 2 victories

Based on Slitherine’s popular tabletop wargaming system by the same name, Field of Glory now comes to the PC in a faithful adaptation of this acclaimed miniatures wargame! Without the calculations and measurements required for a tabletop game of Field of Glory, the PC version accurately represents Ancient and Medieval combat where you make the important and fun decisions on the battlefield. This forum also supports the Rise of Rome, Storm of Arrows and Immortal Fire expansions to Field of Glory.

too easy? my 2 first games = 2 victories

Post by nukkxx5058 »

Isn't the game too easy ? I played and won my 2 first scenarios (in the menu order) without a lot of thinking.

And I didn't find a difficulty setup. Do I miss something or is the game too easy ?

You will find some scenarios more difficult than others depending on the side you select but multiplayer is the way to go if you want a really challenging game.

The online feature looks good. However, I don't see a lot of open "challenges".  I hope the community will develop fast, together with an official rankings/scale.  etc. .

But the game is fun even if I can see a huge improvement field

The closed challenges are probably competition games. Open challenges come up fairly regularly so its best to keep checking. In the meantime or during there are some tougher AI scenarios to get your teeth into.

Instead of waiting for a challenge, issue a challenge yourself. You'll get a game very quickly!

There is an active community.
Just make a challenge and there will be someone to take it soon as the other post pointed out.

nukkxx make a challenge- win or lose you'll have fun and I am sure someone will very quickly take your challenge.

Some scenarios may be less than balanced- historical battles are not a 50-50 proposition. Take the difficult - usually non Roman and see what you can do.

So far the Corinth scenario is something close to balance. The Achaean league fighting the Romans is probably a 40-60 for 45-55 deficit to win. None the less I think it would be a great scenario to play the Greeks, plus it is much fun.[/align]

This game is more for multiplayer nukkxx even some of the reviewers have said so. The ai gets low scores but the multiplayer human vs human elements are getting decent scores. I don't play multiplayer games and mostly buy for the ai single player play experience which this one has little as the reviewers have said. Out of 18 scenarios you might find one or two that are challenging. If you really want some ancients challenge try Spartan or Troy or even some of the new HPS ancients games.

Reviews have said multiplayer is exceptional, not that single player is bad. I greatly enjoy both :)

Why do people who dont like a game feel they must convince others not to like it to justify their own opinion ;)

There are currently over 300 active multiplayer live at any one timne and more every day. It was around 200 last week. If you issue a challenge its unlikely to be there for more than one hour - the problem is more people accept than issue so no matter how bug the community there are hardly any open challenges!

Maybe we should force people to issue challenges once they have accepted a certain number!

I think it's killroy.

Nukkxx,

Before starting a game you can change the balance by giving the advantage to a particular side.

I played my first game where the AI has the advantage and it was a close fight. I lost. :(

To the devs and experienced players,

What does game balance do? Change the troops stats? Give biased die rolls?

devs say the system can be cheated.
losing payer not continuing the game to avoid losses.

As soon as we close the cheating loophole we'll get some MP stats up there. Too many other jobs right now!
