Really weird!!

Post by Koniev »

I think I've run onto a bug I've never heard mentioned before.

I hold (as US) Legaspi, Panay,Samar,Manila and Mindoro. The Sixth Army is heavily engaged at Clark Field. The Eigth Army is in Mindoro waiting to invade Bataan.

To soften up Bataan I sent two bombardment TF's comprised of the old 21 knot battleships. Covered by two air combat TF's of CVE's.

The bases I hold are chock full of Mustangs and B-25's and are divided between Bataan and Clark Field for close air support.

How this came about is beyond me, but for some reason, the Mustangs attacked the CVE TF's and I wound up watching Mustangs and Hellcats fight it out. If I knew how to pause the simulation and get a screenshot I'd post a picture of this.

What The Hell Happened?!?!??

It's a known bug.
When there are no or not enough Jap F the program sympathizes with the poor Japs and gives them a hand [;)]

[:-] It's NOT a bug, it's an "undocumented feature".

Very, very odd nevertheless...!

I've given up on having the Brits do much of anything constructive in Burma, until 1944. I've moved CW and Indian Army troops onto Mandalay or Akyab, and They. Just. Sit there.

I *was* able to retake the Andamans, though. Makes a nice airbase, oil production in Rangoon and western Java ain't what it used to be.

Remember, you need 4:1 odds and/or a very aggressive local commander to attack. And avoid attacking during the "Monsoon" season (March through May IIRC).
Civil war? What does that mean? Is there any foreign war? Isn't every war fought between men, between brothers?

Hi hammery,

I thought this was obvius [;)]

Tip:
to reduce the risk, do NOT attack same base with CVTF and CVETF same turn [8D]

Just encountered something similar. Playing Allies against IJ AI.

I hold Lae and Mandag, IJ LCUs present on both bases.

Mandag is leve 2. I moved two fighter groups there to provide CAP for a bombardment TF. Ony they flew CAP but later attacked IJ LCUs at Lae along with some IJA aircraft also from Mandag.
