Leader replacement newbie guide ?

Post by Oddball_France »

hi all

i'm basically looking for a newbie guide (something like Kull's Allied spreadsheet would be lovely, but a few advices could already help !) about which commander to replace with who, if possible in order of emergency.

Precise examples :

replace Kimmel by ... cause he has low stats

and on contrary, replace xxx by ... because he has good stats but he is commanding an inappropriate unit (ship/HQ/div...)

And more generally :

what's the role/use/effects of the HQ commanders in terms of combat rolls ? do they have any ? isn't it better to keep good commanders for TF and ships only ?

best allied commanders (in terms of naval / aggressivity) to subs, or ASW ships or ... ?

and so on

if possible, i would like to have advices for both allied and japan.
if i thread like that already exists, please give me the link [&o]

Theres no spreadsheet that I know of.

As a basic rule of thumb you should check any leaders that are about to enter combat operations or have to
impact some unit stats (e.g. morale) fast and replace them with the best available.

Scroll down to 1EyedJacks post in this thread tm.asp?m=2327123
There you get some ideas how the leader ratings affect the dice rolls.

The stats are just too diverse and it really depends on how you want to use the unit, TF, Fighter squad,... to give
simple advices.

Mostly the stats are self explanatory though. Be careful with leader replacements also, as they cost PP and you might want to use those for something else.

Tracker is a really valuable tool for finding High stat leaders that are sitting in some back water garrison etc. so that they can be re-assigned to the front.

I have actually found ALOT of V.Good land leaders attached to base forces and excellent fighter pilots in patrol SQNs etc.

For leaders Staff (can be found somewhere in the game folder) is even better. It allows you to rank leaders on a combination of stats, instead of only one for Tracker.
The AE-Wiki, help fill it out
