Event country

Post by Uxbridge »

When playing a PBEM with all majors in "human mode", should the event country be AI controlled or controlled by any of the players?

I'd say that needs to be decided amongst the players. I don't have a preference.

No, I rather think it is supposed to be in a certain way. When I and Johan reached the Barbarossa, the notorious "Russian chock event" didn't trigger. I now believe that this is because the event player was set on human and not AI. This question is for Doomie or someone else at WI who may know the purpose behind this difference.

Ahh...I see. Yes, it does require some kind of definitive answer.

Event country (you are talking about the one with ID=77 ?) should be always set to AI.

Splendid. Thanks.

We have been having it on "human" to overcome certain crashes (1.60). We shall now try to put it back to "AI".

Did I miss something? Isn't there still a problem with events triggering in PBEM games in general?

Oh, yes! There's still a lot of issues connected to the event engine in PBEM. Basically, ToW is a game to be played against the AI, with PBEM included as an option.

I was only checking what should be the intended choice for event player in PBEM.

It's very tempting to try and remove all events not involved in border changes and such stuff, and go with pure game mechanics for the rest. Daunting task for a computer illiterate, though. [8|]

Let's make it clear
There are two events country:
Dummy (ID77) - which is responsible for checking triggers for events.
Event Country PBEM (ID75) - which is responsible for controlling events in PBEM game.
