Help with modified eqp/.sal files

Post by macgregor »

I've recently had to move files from another hard drive -including an eqp file. The scenario; 'Countdown to Infamy' opens fine with the correct data, but subsequent attempts to open my saved pbl(an sal file) cause the game to close after displaying the 'You are using the wrong eqp file' screen. Is there any way to rectify this with a fresh eqp file?(If someone has it?). mind you, this was originally an acow scen I(hopefully) converted to toaw3 by saving it in the editor.

I noticed your post about this scenario on GameSquad, so I downloaded it.

A couple of things...

Did you dump the exe out to an XML .EQP file via BioEd?

What directory did you save the equipment file to in the Graphics folder?

Although, the scenario file is named 1.3, the scenario header says something else so I had to put the .EQP file in a folder called "Countdown to Infamy_1.2" for it to be picked up correctly.

First of all -thanks for helping me out. I just tried renaming both the eqp and folder and both combinations of 1.2 and 1.3 to no avail(preceeded by a '_')it just loads the stock eqp. The scenario starts up with the right data(with both labeled '_1.3'), but won't load the .sal without closing toaw3 first.

BTW -my sce and in-game title both read '_1.3'

Now that's extremely weird because I just followed your link on GameSquad to the RD site.

EDIT: However, loading a SAL file tells me I've got the wrong database... I'm now starting again from scratch.

I have a clue as to why I'm having the trouble; my eqp was moved from my other harddrive. Although the eqp, folder and sce files were also labeled 1.3, I vaguely remember having trouble loading it -way back when toaw3 worked, like 7 months ago. Maybe I need a new eqp. Which will work to convert it for toaw3, I forget, was it ODD or Bioed? I'll start trying them both.

This time when I saved everything as 1.3 when I started the game it told me I had the wrong DB. What I've done is resaved the SCE file from my OOB editor, it now loads as 1.3 without complaint and I can sav and reload a .SAL file also without problems. If you want a copy of the SCE and EQP files, PM me and I'll email them to you.

Are you sure? There's nothing in my InBox.

If you've emailed me, I've just noticed that it's set up for my work address, so I won't get it until Monday.

I've just changed it to something more immediately useful.
