A simple request

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

A simple request

So when playing monster TOAW like Directive 21 I frequently get ideas for the medium-long run and sometimes wish I could write them down. Now obviously its not much of a hassle to just bring up a notepad but I thought it wouldn't be such a bad, and I suppose fairly simple, feature to as a commander's diary of sorts, a tab where we can click and write notes (for example, send next Close air support reinforcement to the crimea). Its absolutely minor but I figure it would be a nice touch. Maybe it could be done over a diary graphic and in some harsh yet aristocratic font to simulate a Prussian generals caligraphy.

While I'm at it I have two other fairly simple requests: One would be an AAR as I always loved reading pre-release dev AARs and the second would be if there's any inkling of a ball park for the release date.

Not sure about adding a notepad but we'll see what the devs think of the idea.  You can play in windowed mode so it would be easy to use an out of game editor for your notes.  I do that now.

I'm sure we'll get an AAR between testers up at some point once we are into beta.  I believe the tentative release date Joel has mentioned is Q2 '10 but that is subject to change of course.

Very late Q2 2010, if things go well. [:)]

Another thing, how are supply depots handled in game? The germans captured an awful, awful lot of supplies from the soviets, and the soviets had terrible logistical problems due to most of their original supply dumps being in German hands.
