Many Happy RETURNs

Post by Firebomber47 »

After sitting through another interminable session of watching P-39s carve up Jap AG task forces (who really wants to see 20 cannon hits on an AG for the tenth or eleventh time, anyway?), I started experimenting with the keys on the keyboard and found two that provide relief from such boredom. You can use the ESC key to break out of every animation routine in the game and the ENTER (on some keyboards, the RETURN) key to break out of most as well. I've searched the documentation and Hot Key list, but found no mention of these keys, so I'm assuming this is an undocumented feature, possibly put there as a means of speeding play-testing by the programmers. Now you can have the best of both worlds - seeing animations of every bomb and torpedo hit as the Yamato gets pounded by your SBDs and TBFs, but fast-forwarding through those pesky P-39 cannon runs on AG TFs. And for those of us who (all too frequently) forget to issue a change of orders to some unit until AFTER ending the turn (guilty!), you can now fast-forward through the entire AI-controlled sequence, reload the (hopefully) saved turn and make your adjustments. Many happy RETURNs!
