Trouble installing with Windows 7

Post by Ormand »

I recently did a virgin install of Windows 7 (64 bit) and then started to reinstall all of the software I wanted to transfer over. I am having trouble with Advanced Tactics. Originally, I purchased Advanced Tactics back in Feb. 2008, and I can't seem to find the original download. However, I do have the zip files AdvancedTactics-UpdateCompDR-v115 (v120 and v120b). Is it possible to install with these files? I am supposing the answer is no since they are clearly something of an update. At any rate, when I try to run the exe in the files, it does run, asks for the serial number and extracts files. It seems to incomplete, and when I try to run, it gives lots of errors. So, the question is how can I reinstall without purchasing again?

You have to take this up with Matrix support since they host the download files. I am sure they can point you to the correct location.

Vic,

I figured that this might be the avenue. I put in a request, but I guess I am not hopeful since the first download was 2 years ago. And Matrix is a bit slow in responding. Unfortunately, with two full hardware upgrades and two OS upgrades, that file was most likely on a small HD that I didn't fully copy over. I rather like the game, and I would like not to have to purchase again. A lesson here on saving downloaded installation files!

I have the same problem, and no response from Matrix. I guess this means the end of my AT playing career :(

No response? That's weird because I did send them a couple of mails in the past few years... and always got an answer back. Maybe try to mail them again, or wait a few days, I dunno. Would be a waste not to be able to play AT anymore.
Besides, if you still have the original serial number/ order number ( I always forget which one you need) then it should be possible to d/l the game from the members area (registered games) right?

No, that is only for downloading various upgrades etc. Waiting a few days, sure, maybe they'll respond eventually :)

Or PM Erik Rutins and see if he can check with the support just in case they're not off somewhere, like vacation......
