The troops already loaded on the TFs will invade Guadalcanal (Lunga & Tulagi) unless you've changed their orders.  I believe they disembark on either the second or third day of the game.

The AI doesn't get his carriers until day five if I remember correctly.  It will take him probably 2+ days days to get his forces from Truk to Guadalcanal.  Then the fun begins!

You have slightly more time than the above; you are looking at more like turn 12 before the The AI fleet arrives in Truk.
Once you have established a foothold in Guadalcanal, look to inhibit the AI reinforcing by sea and launching a counter-attacking invasion. Good use of search arcs and recon will help this.
Don't forget that the second part of this mission to hold-off the advances against Port Moresby - again search arcs and well-timed naval/port attacks will hinder the movement of enemy shipping into Buna.

My best advice is not to rush in without good intel - a suprise attack against your CVs could end the war for you early!

WITP_AE tracker found here: Tracker 1.4 is a great way of keeping tabs on your forces as well as highlighting key issues within the information swamp you fight in.

Good luck and enjoy.
