Post by Anonymous »

Hello pooners,

this thread is for posting scenarios written for the HUD 3 database which is included in the game.

After finishing my next scen for the ANW DB I´ll start to write a scen using HUD 3.

Good idea Ralf!

I hope that Russell is going to set up a server soon [as promised], so that we can play the scenarios with the Multi-player.
I'm looking forward to that.

Frans,

I've had the server up several times but I'd like it to be tested first. Further, I sent the connection details to you but I don't have your latest e-mail. After I've run the release testing for 3.10 I'll send you the details again if you will PM me your e-mail address.

Then we can let everyone use the server after some playtesting.

Thanks,
Russell

Guys,

just to give an heads-up: I´m on my way writing a large scen for HUD 3 which deals with an attack on a large convoy.

Database is the latest HUD 3 which you can find at the HUD 3 homepage Darren mentioned or here at Harpgamer:

http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?showtopic=8263

The HUD 3 is a well-working database written by Darren Buckley, one of the most experienced Pooners ever.

Hi Everyone,

I'll be getting in touch with Tony Eischens shortly and organising (pleading with him [&o] ) to have the HUD3 made available for download via his site.

I know the HUD3 website is down (apologies to visitors) and I'll be getting an update on that ASAP. I hope people are willing to try out some of the rebuilt and new scens I'm preparing and stalwarts like Ralf have continued with.

I'll get back with news and updates as I become aware of them.

Cheers

Herman,

Please refrain from posting advertising material in any threads related to the HUD3 and its scenarios. I know you find it hard to leave things that simply don't concern you alone, I would simply ask you to attempt to "break the habit". It's not only annoying but uncalled for and unwelcome. You have enough threads of your own going why you find it necessary to become involved in matters that don't concern you has been puzzling me for years... (I doubt I'm the only one)

Thanks in advance

Ah, still the self-appointed forum manager. You still have not learned that you are not in charge of anything related to Harpoon. You do not represent AGSI, you do not represent Harpoon, nor do you represent Matrix.

Your continual attempts at ordering others to behave as you would like is irritating, tiresome, and unwelcome. Post your opinion and leave everyone else to post theirs. Only a fool believes that he 'owns' a Matrix thread. And I doubt that I am the only one who thinks this way.

Herman,

Simple question:

Question: WTF do you have to do with the HUD3 and those who work with me?

Answer: Nothing

Question: Where did I claim to be any of the things you've accussed me of?

Answer: I didn't make those claims at all, I simply asked you to refrain from blantently advertising, get over it.

I'm heavily involved with AGSI and your misrepresentation of the facts is nothing more than a lie. You should ask Mr Gilman about the size of the Mantis (bug tracker used for ANW) files I've generated from my testing and work on the simulation. What, it was bigger than the rest of the AGSI files combined... That's because I have nothing to do with this. [8D] Oh and we had a US Navy Lt. use the HUD3 for his Masters in Operational Analysis and I'm working with a Professor from Rice University in an effort to allow him to use ANW in a Political Science course. Little bit of advice, having a loud voice doesn't always mean you're right...[:-]

If you'd like me to start posting a warning on every PDB thread here at Matrix reminding people that, that DB of yours is a ripoff. I'd be more than happy to. Your choice, all you have to do is make it.

I have nothing to do with this, of course not. I hope you enjoy the new sonar capabilities in 3.10. Something I first looked at over 3 years ago. Unlike you I didn't carry on like the proverbial pork chop at a Jewish New Year. I passed on my findings and after considerable work from Dale, Russell and Chris Carlson we're where we should be. That's what cooperation achieves, might be a lesson for you there...

Nor does it mean that you are a representative of AGSI, Harpoon, or Matrix.

And I'll be more than happy to post up your license agreement whereby your permission was given freely, publicly, and in perpetuity in your own words. Evidently, you think that there is something shameful or wrong in requesting and receiving permission to do things. I certainly am not embarassed since it is all legal and above board. I doubt that others will agree with you. However, if it is your intent to spam the forum, there is nothing I (as another forumite) can do about it. That's because I am not a representative of AGSI, Harpoon, or Matrix. Just like you. [:)]

Hi Ralf,

Yes there's obviously a lot of stuff about to happen with the release of 3.10 soon and a few new scens using the new mission and boarding features found in the impending H3ANW 3.10.

There's a "quantity" of work to do and I'll need to fire a copy of the DB to you so you can use a pre-release for your scen design efforts. I also need to contact Russell and double check a couple of DB related matters, nothing serious but you know me by now and I'll try to make sure it's fully compatible with 3.10's features.

I'm not sure if you've looked at the mission linking yet? I hope you have because I really think a long time scenario designer such as yourself is going to love being able to make use of this feature. You'll be able to set up a series of strikes that attack specific targets in any order you wish.

For example you have say 12 aircraft assigned to strike 6 targets. As a designer or player, you may wish to attack these 6 targets in the following order:

5 - 3 - 1 - 4 - 6 - 2

MISSIONS:

Strike #5 Base Parameter: Default Strike Mission
Secondary Mission: Strike #3
Mission Delay: 5mins

Strike #3 Base Parameter: Default Strike Mission
Secondary Mission: Strike #1
Mission Delay: 4hrs

Strike #1 Base Parameter: Default Strike Mission
Secondary Mission: Strike #3
Mission Delay: 10hrs
Pre-assigned Aircarft: 4 x Reserve to supplement losses. Available after 10 hours due to mission delay. So after 10 hours of combat the initial 12 aircraft less any losses would have 4 additional units added for the remain 3 missions. Minimise losses gain an advantage, well the AO will...

The aircraft will continue with their primary mission until either the target is destroyed or if it is destroyed before the secondary mission delay, when that delay expires.

I've looked at the information Russell put on the wiki and although a little different from other scripting I've had experience with (Counter Strike, and Lua sripting as used by Relic in their Homeworld RTS series). I'm hoping that I can find some time at coming up with a set of scripts that would allow for strike packages to form up with aircraft assuming a common cruise speed. It might allow for the creation of something approaching our version of the Alpha Strike after all this time along with the AO doing air to air refuelling.

Anyway enough daydreaming, back at it, I will try to get a DB off to you and Frans ASAP.

Cheers

Darren

Yes, I´ve looked at Chained Missions. Both boarding/takeover and chained missions will be implemented in Pason 8, which will come out along with 3.10 and your updated HUD 3.

Hi pooners,

Pason 8 "Norwegian Surprise" is done and underway to Taitennek and Bucks. The scenario will be released when 3.10 is out.

Here is some info:

Pason 8: Norwegian Surprise
"Norwegian Surprise"

PASON = Papa and Son Battleset

Scenario #8

A Harpoon 3 ANW scenario for the HUD 3,

designed for ANW 3.10

by

Ralf Koelbach

LOCATION: Norwegian Coast

Date/TIME: November 15th, 1994

SCENARIO DURATION: 24 hours (1.0 days)

This is the eight scenario of the Pason-Battleset. These scenarios are for beginners which want to improve step by step. All scenarios use the same or roughly the same map. The complexity and thus difficulty of the scenarios increases steadily. Additionally, these scens incorporate the latest ANW features thus you can learn and train them.

"Norwegian Cost" takes you in command of an assault force trying to retake two important buildings and boarding a main capital Russian ship.

This scenario trains you in the following skills:

- Electronic Warfare: blind the enemy

- Reconnaissance: find hidden facilities

- SEAD: Destroy hostile SAM sites

- boarding: Take a hostile capital ship

- takeover: take two important buildings

You have the following classics, too:

- strike by night

- ASW

- ASuW

- Air-to-air dogfight

Hi Pooners,

I had uploaded a - under ANW 3.9.4 non-working version of my PASON-Battleset at HarpGamer. It had been converted with an ANW 3.10 beta and thus didn´t run under 3.9.4.

Sorry for any inconveniance.

I just re-discovered the 3.9.4 version of my PASON Battleset and uploaded it:

http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.ph ... owfile=558

Have fun! Pason 8 will come out with 3.10.

Regards,
Ralf
