_German Advance vs Soviet*
__0200 hrs July, 1943*
_______Near Kursk*

_Scenario Design: Redleg*

**

This is a small sized battle that takes less than an hour to play. The player should take the German side. The scenario is designed to be played with C/C turned off.
**

Exit v-hexes are used. If you do not understand how v-hexes work, please refer to the manual before beginning to play.
**

During the Battle of Kursk, the high attrition in armored vehicles resulted in teams at night from both sides looking for abandoned or immobilized tanks. For the Germans, it was
very importation to salvage all tanks possible, especially the Tigers. For the Soviets, it was important to prowl the battlefield at night looking for tanks and crews to destroy.
**

This scenario depicts a Battalion Maintenance Officer and his men on a vehicle (Tiger) recovery mission. The player must take command of this salvage operation and accomplish several tasks:
**

1. First find the 2 abandoned and unservicable Tigers (they are named Tiger 1 and Tiger 2) to them easy to locate on the battlefield.
**

2. Take the "new" crews for these tanks to the tanks and have them man the tanks. The crewshave been renamed to match the Tigers.
**

3. Once the tanks are manned, they are without ammo. So you must transport the "repair parts" which are really ammo cannisters to the tanks so they can be armed if you wish to do
so. These "repair parts" are very expensive and need to be exited via the exit hexes. The salvage teams have been named to match the names of the Tigers.
**

4. Use your security forces in any way you wish to escort the recovered Tigers to either of the two exit hexes. Exiting the map is how you will gain victory points.
**

5. After the tanks are "repaired", you will note that they are not fully repaired and will not move at full speed. The must be taken in for further repair.
**

6. Take the tanks and all of your other units to an exit hex. You will likely encounter groups of Tank Hunters, Assault Teams, even NKVD units prowling the battlefield looking for victims. These are very dangerous troops, eager to avenge the Motherland.
**

Be sure you understand the instructions before playing the battle.
**

This scenario is based on descriptions of recovery operations in the book, "The Battle of Kursk", by Glantz and House

This is a fun-to-play scenario.
