Nation border on the map

Nation border on the map
Does the ANW map include national borders of the countries/states?
Is it a world map size or depending the scenario you choose an area map?
Thank you.

RE: Nation border on the map
The size of the scenario map is determined by the designer. It can range from 1 degree X 1 degree (60nm x 60nm approx @ the equator). I've built a map ranging from the West coast of the Americas to well west of India. That's all of both the Pacific and Indian Oceans.
National borders are included as an option map display feature. One point of warning here. The map data is from 1994, so there'll be some borders "missing" in parts of the world where countries have split up etc.
Cheers

Question
National boundaries can be displayed from the Map Preferences button [F8].ORIGINAL: fulcrum28

Maps are created by the individual scenario authors. However, the map cannot be world-sized. IIRC, the maximum size of map can only cover 180 degrees longitude or latitude. So, the biggest map you could get would cover 1/2 the globe.

RE: Question
Fulcrum,
The scenario editor is capable of producing a complete world map. I've included a screen shot with the national borders displayed. As long as you use the correct map type and coordinates, a 180 degree North/South and 360 degree East/West map is capable of being generated.
Cheers

Question
Yup. It works as long as you don't mind having the aircraft based in Los Angeles always needing to fly over Europe in order to reach Hong Kong.
Are you able to make a map centred on the International Date Line, instead?

Herman,
That's kind of a silly question since the dateline is set at 180 degrees East or West. The mid point of the map is at 0 (zero) degrees based on the available Longitude settings 180 <-> 0 <-> -180. Therefore you as well as everyone else can see that's simply not possible. The Prime meridian (0 degrees running through Greenwich) is always the centre of the 360 degree map.
The question I'd ask is, if it's possible to fly off the edge of the map I generated and reappear on the opposite edge. The possibility of this occurring may be greater than when a map has say a 120 degree (7200 nm) gap between the edges, whereas my map theorectically has no gap whatsoever. I'll admit I haven't tried yet and therefore this remains an unknown although something obviously worth looking at.
Of course if you wanted to fly LAX to HKG, maybe you only need a map of the Pacific, say from -105 to -170 degrees of Longitude, see attached screen shot.
Cheers
Darren

Question
It may be silly to you, but I don't think that anyone else would find it practical to necessarily fly over Europe as the only route to the Orient.ORIGINAL: Bucks

Sorry not silly, just plain stupid...
Build a map to suit the situation, not simply always critisise the evidence. If all you want to do is be negative take it somewhere else. I produced a map that shows flying from LAX to HKG is possible without Europe even being represented on the map...
I suggest a Doctor and a course of Dexamphetamines so you can keep up with what's happening here. I even suggested that a complete 360 map might just allow you to fly off one edge and onto the other...
Herman's "censorship to suit" when he quotes people is rather amuzing. Note how he only quotes part of my post in an effort to simply ignore any further information that may provide answers. Please either "lift your game" or simply refrain from getting involved in details that are obviously something that might just expose further capabilities in this simulation.
Oh by the way are you still going to copy platforms from the HUD3 into your database? Most people would see that as theft, well I do. Yes yes I know the license agreement... Don't care since you're the only person copying stuff I see it as theft. Especially since I have an agreement with Larry Bond to use the latest and often unpublished as yet, miniatures rules data annexes. Kinda of means you get the benefit without any of the work... Then again that's just you isn't it Herman?
Get a life, will you?

Question
Which is exactly what I've tried to do. As usual, it can't be done. As was stated. All the screaming in the world won't change that fact. that it is impossible to produce a world map with Asia depicted West of N. America.ORIGINAL: Bucks

Which, of course, is why no one sees it as theft since permission was given freely, publicly, and in perpetuity in your own words in your own license agreement. I'm sure that everyone sees that fact, too.ORIGINAL: Bucks

From you that's rich, coming from somebody that hangs out in forums almost 24/7 and well then again if you're copying my database that would give you plenty of time to become a lurker...
Another question is, how do you know what I do? I mean you live in Canada and I live in Australia, not like we're neighbours is it? How about sticking to what you know about... Griping. [8|]
I love poking this creature from the other side of the bars

BTW. I'll change the agreement just because of you. The next release will be completely protected and nobody (everyone thank Herman) will be able to copy or alter the HUD3 in anyway. Happy now?

Question
As usual, trying to change the rules to suit your own purpose, eh? You need to read your little license agreement, again. Permission was granted in perpetuity. (BTW, that means forever in English and Australian.) [:D]ORIGINAL: Bucks

RE: Question
New DB-Version, new License, that's how easy it is. You can still copy from the previous version that was published under a different license, but you can't copy anything from the new dataset. Unfortunately because of you nobody else will be allowed to either...

Nope. As long as it is a version of the "HUD-series" (as stated in the license), it is covered by the same license. So, slapping on a new version number is pretty useless. However, you probably would have known that had you bothered to read the license.
Sounds like a B-grade movie script with a hostage-taker/terrorist (standing over the body of someone he just murdered) telling the police negotiator, "Look what you made me do!" [:D]ORIGINAL: jpkoester1
