Assigning Escorts To Specific Targets

Does this help? The sticky thread above (the coordination guide) doesn't mention assigning targets to escorts very much. And when it does, it seems to imply that escort target assignment isn't that big of a deal.

I was hoping that by assigning targets for my escorting fighters, I would be able to fine tune my raids by sending specific squadrons on escort duty with specific raids.

So, does assigning a target for escorts help with coordination, or not?

Assigning a target for an escort insures that the unit will ONLY escort to the selected target. To a first approximation, it does not increase the chance that they will escort. There is a secord order effect that will help if you are attacking multiple targets; this insures that they will not escort the wrong strike assuming they chose to escort anybody.

Okay, that's what I hoped would be the case. So, if I set a target for an escorting fighter squadron, it will either escort that strike only or none at all.
