Is this game as good as it seems

Armada 2526 continues the great tradition of space opera games. You guide your race from its first interstellar journeys, until it becomes a mighty galactic empire. Along the way, you'll explore the galaxy, conduct research, diplomacy and trade, found new colonies, maneuver mighty star fleets, and fight epic battles.

Is there enough fresh perspective and gameplay to warrant a purchase, even if I own Gal Civ II?

In a word: yes. I own (and enjoy) GalCiv2 as well, yet I find Armada is a rather different (but still fun) experience.

Let me put it this way, with a lack of new 4x games coming out Armada is a decent buy.

However, it does not re-define anything and has already gotten stale for me after a couple months of on and off playing.

I guess it can satisfy your 4x gaming needs until Distant Worlds comes out.

Definitely worth your time - at least as much fun as GC2, in my opinion. Armada 2526 is also continuing to be updated and improved by Ntronium, with another significant update expected in April.

I agree as well, definitely worth the purchase. It is different than GC2 (which I have as well) and, as such, is fun in its own way. As Erik said too, the support is there too [:)]
