Low Naval@Ground Bombing

Post by Husky_MatrixForum »

Is Low Naval Bombing skill use only when attacking ships with bombs at 100' or allways below 6000? If my bomber ASW patrol at 5000 feet and trying to attack submarine what skill is primary?
And any idea when any level bomber want to strike ground target at 100' to use LowGrBomb?

B-25 mitchell's used a tactic called skip bombing that comes in jan/1943 where they fly 100 feet off the ground, and drop a bomb "skipping" across water. Also fighters if you want to hunt down barges.

I am not entirely sure if it works before 43, you'd have to check the manual on this.

I think its got to do with anything below 5000 feet because whenever you put a squadron to train below that height, it starts gaining experience in low altitude bombing.

below 6000 I guess because if you set a squadron to train nav attack at 5000ft they train LOW nav and if they are set to 6000ft they train nav bomb.

Yes, I can confirm too, 6k is the changing point. <6k is Low Naval, 6k is normal Naval bombing.

Most on the boards have said that the LowN skill needs to be in the upper 30s to start getting hits on shipping.

upper 30? Well, that´s nearly nothing then. I would have said you should look for 50 - 60 at least.

Also fighters if you want to hunt down barges.

Fighter bombers will attack barges at 100' as well.

Upper 30s is where I start getting hits. Not many mind you but a start. Even in the 30s I mostly see splashes. To get consistent results, you are probably right about the 60s.
