Lots of recon. Find where they are based then bomb the snot out of the bases. You won't kill the pilots but a mangled airframe is the next best thing.

yep, I just took out an advanced base at naga... amazing when your hq are set to trget a hex yor bombers actually fly! I had 0 participation in my lets bomb naga campaign turn one! 250 plus planes scheduled.. so all my hq reset to Naga, next day probably 2/3 flew.. it was GLORIOUS
and I ran a fast ca cl group and bombarded Clard .. he had retreated out of Manila and staging out of clark, I did not even know yo could bomb clark afb from teh sea! awesome..
What I screwed? did not see his night raiders and got lazy with my two tone invasion group.. apa lite load with troops, already unloaded at B something , island next to Borneo, and did not split them out for home, so he meandered in. right next to my carriers, sunk two.. fortunately they had already unloaded as I mentioned... and I could not catch them and my pt did not shoot any torps at them that I could tell! Also a naval surface group the one that bb clark, was in the same hex... anyway it sux seeing the enemy walk right by your fleets!!! Those BB's out of Singapore are going to die!!! I am suprised as he is so close to being inderdicted in the south he ahas any capital ships there

and

He has done VERY well on his pilots... seems they are all in teh home islands gettign ready to stop the invasion there, good they can stay there.. anyway...
will update on teh kami threat as Jan1 44 just went ove rto my esteemed foe..

Fyi he has a jap fanboy only thread, lol AAR,
I also have limited carrier air while I patch up my fleet boys

Easier said than done. Japan has lots of airbases and lots of long-range bombers and fighters. You're not going to stop Japan from employing kamikazes if you're fighting your way through the DEI or Malaya or the Philippines or New Guinea.

As a player doing just that on the Eve of '44, I'll be interested in reading about other players' experience with kamikazes....

actually he has limited fields in the region as he did not build up the bases under his control, I also have limited air supperiority.. bombing out Manila and clark will cause that to roll ove rto total local air supperiority.. I could not have come this far with my anemic cv performance without exellent lba performance....
so he can fly from Cam ron bay.. Takeo isf he want unescorted.. Makisar and Balipagan are bombed out months ago....
the intent is to deney him fields.. I had to do all the close bases on advance to maximise the games lba bias... and he has been clobering me at sea! So...

Here we go, Jan one.. NO KAMI
But my subs spotted TWO DOCK SHIPS!!! those bad boys are my # 1 priority.. too far, barely to make a carrier ru nat them.. they seem to be transiting from PIto Takeo...
ok
not tryingto do an aar.. will limit it to kami related stuff

I am putting lba cap over my invasions at Peurta Prenciss... hopwfully that and the cve air will do the trick if he dcides to pull the trigger

Some day, but it is weird it seems to only let me convert groups with low experence. Also it costs me 10 vp points to convert a long with the 1 vp I lose a day from a base I do not intend to defend any more.

One of the bases on Timor I still control does not have a big enough garrison as I have pulled the troops out to use else where, so every turn I do not meet it I lose 1 vp. when I convert a group to Kami's it asked if I covert it will cost 10 vp points to do.

ok, mid/late jan and no kamis, BUT he did sortie out the fleet, put me in a frenzy of activity as I had about 45 task forces to re rout as a result of him deciding to opose my Borneo expansion... no real hope for himr to stop me, best he can do is slow the reinforcments down...
The Big Island and Burma are looking tempting as troops flood the regions and ships.. just not too happy with the evil Kami threat hanging over me

I did not even know I had used kami's as I have no units in the area yet, maybe I did not sure where every thing is as I am more worried about setting up some kind of defense some where to slow you down at some point. I figured out trying to hold a bunch a bases with 100 to 200 Assault Values does not slow you down at all. To many bases to defend as airfields go from 0 to 6 in a week or two.

I had one of those as well in my last PBEM, but with an added twist ... Below is the combat report from the ramming encounter;

Morning Air attack on Rabaul , at 106,125

Weather in hex: Partial cloud

Raid detected at 21 NM, estimated altitude 20,000 feet.
Estimated time to target is 6 minutes

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 27

Allied aircraft
B-17E Fortress x 9

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 1 destroyed

Allied aircraft losses
B-17E Fortress: 2 damaged

Aircraft Attacking:
6 x B-17E Fortress bombing from 15000 feet
Port Attack: 8 x 500 lb GP Bomb
3 x B-17E Fortress bombing from 15000 feet
Port Attack: 8 x 500 lb GP Bomb

CAP engaged:
4th Ku S-1 with A6M2 Zero (3 airborne, 8 on standby, 16 scrambling)
3 plane(s) intercepting now.
Group patrol altitude is 14000 , scrambling fighters between 8000 and 21000.
Time for all group planes to reach interception is 37 minutes

Kanzaki D. gives his life for the Emperor by ramming a B-17E Fortress

This could be found in my ops report;
CPT Conkling I. of 7th BG/Hq Sqn is credited with kill number 2

Then, when I checked out that sqn I found out that not only did CPT Conkling get credited with the kill, he actually managed to get the B-17 home, although in a *very* damaged state. [8D]

The B-17 was out for repairs for something like 10 days if I remember correctly. For some reason, CPT Conkling also recieved some added EXP and DEF ... [:D]
