Game freezes at opening

Just installed maximum football 2.0. my computer meets all of the requirements, yet it freezes up when it gets to a picture of stadium lights in the intro animation. Any ideas?

What is your OS?  Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7?

Windows XP. Any suggestions? Really want to play this game and any advise would be welcome.[&o]

Did you select to install all components when it asked

It is usually a missing or non-updated .dll file that is the culprit, but I cannot say.
 
Make sure DirectX has been updated.

Oh yes, 2.0 is not enough.  One must update with the patches too.  Have you done that?
