Looks like you don't have DirectX properly installed.

You need to have the .Net DirectX assemblies in the C:\Windows\Assemblies folder. If you don't see anything starting with Microsoft.DirectX in that folder then reinstall DirectX.

Did you allow the required .NET and DirectX installers to execute or did you uncheck them?

I unchecked the Direct x 9.0c as I thought I had this already installed (did so a couple months back). Just realised there's a newer version of it in Feb 2010 though! Really sorry to waste your time at this stressful stage!!
