Contradictory AI Recomendations

I don't think the various helper AI talk to each other, or something. I'm getting contradictory "Lets attack race X" followed by "Lets lift our trade sanctions against race X" messages in rapid succession. I think I even had a 'set trade sanctions' followed immediately by a 'try for free trade agreement' one... O.o

Any idea what I'm doing to cause this?

I get this as well. I don't think the AI really weighs the consequences when suggesting actions.

In my 1.02 game it kept recommending I attack my 53 world juggernaut neighbor, while at the same time wanting me to conduct missions against my trade-partner who happened to be the super spy guys. Going by sheer numbers (what is smart and not smart to do(, they both fall way short of being good recommendations.

It's just not very clever, but since you can just turn of recommendations for those two I find I am not too bothered. I do think it might be a problem for the AI players if it acts that erratically.

In my 2nd game, the AI kept recommending to attack a large starbase defended colony. I kept refusing since the fleet was too weak to destroy it. IMHO the Ai shouldnt recommend targets that are too strong and keep insisting on it by proposing it again and again.
