Question while I'm installing. I am currently installing it on my desktop. Will Matrix get mad at me if I also download it to my laptop and if it's ok how do I go about downloading it a second time?

u are only supposed to have one working copy BUT you are also allowed to dl it repeatadly, many times.. and keep a "backup", I think the official policy is not really for you, its for those who are cloning the game to multiple computers.. I am like you a user, no official role here, BUT you are absolutely able to install it to a laptop and a desktop with no grief... what you are not able to do is give a coupy to someone else... again technically I do think it is one working game.. I read that as one in progress, and as I never use both sys at the same time my desktop and laptop serve as mirrors for game retrieval in event of crash, plus the portability...
I too just dl'd this game, I needed something lite! lol
after an AE pbem  slugfest this really seems fun and lite!
let me know what you think, also did you know there is a patch already?

From what I can tell the patch came with the download currently have version 1.02.

Oh no, no one is getting my copy. I love Matrix trust in it's customers and will not betray that trust. It's just that even though I game on my desktop sometimes I'm stuck at the in laws[>:] all afternoon  and would love to play this on my laptop.  I do not want the wrath of Erik!

As far as I'm aware Matrix Games understands that you are a gamer and may need it on another machine. You can download as many times as you require and burn as many copies as you want for your own personal use. You can also install on more than one machine - but you are not allowed to have more than one copy running at any one time....I think that's it in a nutshell.

Matrix policy is great but I still prefer to buy from steam etc because its simply way more comfortable and Im for easy living. In steam I click mouse button once or max twice and the game is bought and installed. With matrix games I have to fill in details, log into paypal, click d/l link, choose folders, insert serial numbers, update the game, etc. Its way more hassle. 

But anyways I "Just got it" too.

Thanks for the info JD! I just went through the tutorial. You ever have that feeling when you very first start playing a game and something clicks inside you and you know that you're gonna play this for a while? This is that game for me.

If that includes letting my friend play it on my laptop when he comes over, that is my business. Now I'm not going to go giving copies out left and right obviously, and I'd never give my serial number away to anyone, but what I do with my software isn't up to them.

And I'd say you need to read the License Agreement which specifies exactly what you have, and have not purchased, and what you can, and can't, do with it. Not that I've ever known them have a problem about installing on two machines as long as they belong to the same customer; and I can't see any reason for installing on more than two.

IMHO the Matrix approach to DRM is so customer friendly compared to trends elsewhere it really isn't something to develop an attitude about, and certainly isn't a privilege to be abused.

Even companies like Adobe and Microsoft, whose software runs hundreds of dollars will allow you to install on your Work PC, Home PC and Lap Top with the understanding that you are the only user. The whole point is not the number of computers but the number of users. After all you could legally uninstall before installing on another computer so why make you do that? Of course I'm just a gamer and I don't speak for Matrix.

As Erik has said elsewhere, that's only of any relevance should Matrix themselves go tits-up at any point. Digital River insist on it being included, but it's not needed. And what's so hard about just burning the install file to a CD, anyway?

The Digital River insurance fee can be deleted from the sale screen. Matrix Games offers free unlimited downloads of your games in the infinite future.

I'm just perplexed that Matrix Games does not advertise and note in the purchase process their excellent policy.

From the Matrix Games purchases I've done, the physical/CD addition adds $10 plus shipping. With Matrix Games free unlimited re-download policy, it seems wise to skip buying a physical CD; unless you enjoy CD,s and boxes as collectables to to adorn a shelf. I considered continuing to collect boxes and CD's but then I resolved that's not something I'd like to continue anymore.

Digital River requires the info in the store to be as it is. I can tell you this on our forum and all our long-standing customers are aware that re-downloads go way past 30 days or 2 years, but we're not allowed to put this in the store as the store has to stick with DR's policies in this regard.

I used to think like that but not anymore. I have three digital copies of every matrix game I have. One in wallet size usb-harddisk. They propably last longer than any CD or DVD that I buy.

But there are more problems like space

I have three bookshelves mostly filled with ps2,ps3,xbox360 and pc games from the past 20 years. In finland apartment space costs twice as much as in germany and we also have higher taxes and less pay so we cant afford big houses. The gameshelves mostly gather dust in the corner.

Then there is the value of physical copies

PC games are so worthless nowadays that its almost impossible to sell even one year old game. Also nobody wants to loan games anymore. To say it shortly I have library of PC games that nobody wants to loan or buy. When I die people will propably throw them in trash anyway. However they might save the wallet size backup of my digital copies.

And the modern dvd-boxes

Usually there is one cheap dvd box with dvd inside. Looking at the box there is nothing of interest in it except the data on the dvd. Also when I get physical games from matrix the cheap dvd-box is usually allready partly broken with holes and everything looking like it wont last for long.

And the install factor

In steam I just click game's name once thats it. Its installed. To install physical game I need to find it. Its in one of three shelves. It might or might not contain the dvd. After I have found the dvd I must open the dvd drive and remove the existïng dvd. After I have inserted the new dvd I have to wait for it load. Once its loaded I start the install and search for the serial number that i type in multiple times once for the install and once for every update.

Anyways thats just my 5cent towards the debate abt physical vs digital. [:D]

Jeez. Maybe do what I did a few times. After those games accumulate and fill up a shelf GIVE selected ones away to friends and family.(Heh. Maybe it will help to raise your reputation.) Keep a few games on the shelf for memorabilia.

Ive been thinking of starting to sell my collection in ebay. There is always one collector or two who might buy them if you wait long enough. However only those games that I dont like so much. The rest I keep including all my matrix games. [:D]

If you can get money for them, great. But if you can't giving them away is better than throwing them away
