Put it in the wish list thread stickied at the top, if you really want this feature.

you can certainly right click a planet or moon and select "build a colonizer and send it here" option.
you can also rightclick a star system with a colonizer selected and tell it to colonize there IF there is an available planet.

recall that most planets are non colonizable.

Actually taltamir is correct
Problem is, the game seems to change it mind often when you can and cannot use the right click menu

ok, I have never been able to get a right click on the map to work.. THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!!! maybe if it is supposed to work, and does not we should call it not WAD? and that WAD is right click to open builds.. that would be nice.. THANK YOU!!!! [&o][:D][&o]

For me , r-click menu on (main) map *usually* works, but sometimes not ... maybe it's just that you have to clock "just spot on" the planet/system.
But it's pretty useful : I always order exploration and base building this way !

I think it could do with zoom level as well, not entirely sure
It works often for me, but sometimes it chooses to be awkward

I found out I have to select the planet with a left click(puts a red circle in the planet) while in planet view.  I then cycle through the construction ships by tapping the 'Y' key.  I bring the one I want to use into view in the left window but don't click that window.  Now I right click the selected planet and I will have all the available options.

If I just want to colonize, I just right click after I selected the planet with a left click.  It works fine as long as my empire is capable of colonizing the planet type.
