manufacturers?

Post by freeboy »

The game talks about and recommends adding all four types, Energy, tech industry and weapons as an add on to you rports /staions?
I have no idea how to ADD these, unless we are to build them in the design menu?

thanks clueless=me on this one!

manufacturer = plant (which is a ship/base component in the ship/base designer)

as in a "manufacturing plant"

Alot of things are not very clear. Go look at a constructor ship you'll see several plants in its component list

Weapon
Energy
HighTech
Industrial

This is also the areas of reasearch and what puts points into those areas of research are labs

as in a "research lab" (also components)

Any component you look at in the ship designer highlight and click on the "show component guide" button this will bring up a screen that shows you more detailed information on the component. Right next to the name of the component in parenthesis you will see one of the 4 manufacturing /research areas (Weapon/Hightech/Energy/Industrial). That is the type of plant you need to construct this component.

Go back and look at the constructor you'll notie it has one of each plant except industrial plants of which it has 3. Constructors build bases, go look at the component list for each base and you will notice that bases have far more industrial components than any other type of component. The conclusion is that if you removed industrial plants from the default constructor it would build bases more slowly since it cant manufacture industrial components as quickly.

Hope this helps.

ok, not too much

Is the game correct in suggesting I add these to my spaceports or bases? and how do I do that?
I do understand there are four unique flavors of Plants, they then do diffeerent things related to the four areas.. but are they added to ports bases? or built in?

All ships and bases are collections of components.

Research in the game just gives you new new components, you don't research new government types or a tech that decreases ship maintenance costs its all about producing components

a lab is a component
labs produce research points

a plant is a component
plants produce components <-there is your answer

a shipyard is a component
a shipyard places components onto new ships
shipyard have some special rules depending on what type object there on
-Colonies have 1 shipyard which can be used to build colony ships/constructors/satrbases for local orbit
-Spaceports have shipyard compnents that can build military and civilian ships, they cannot build colony ships, constructors or starbases
-Constructor ships have shipyard components that can build starbases only and no kind of ship

To more explicitly answer your question you need to have plants to build the components of the intended ship/starbase you want to produce as well as shipyards to actually create the intended ship/base from the compnents the plat produces. And you do that through the design window go to the AAR forums and at the top of the list stickied is a ship building AAR which walks you through the design window.

Also go look at you rstarting large spaceport you'll notice it has 8 shipyard components. Now go to the construction yard screen (f6) and look at the details for that spaceport and you'll see 8 slots with the shipyard icon which mean that starport can produce 8 ships concurently (in parallel).

ok, I will g othe the galctipedia and cut and paste what is states, as yo are either not understanding me, or understandingthe game so well that my lack is hindering us..
but as I recall it said to place manufactories in these builds.. space ports or bases?
So r u stating a lab is a manufactory.. seem like a lab is a lab and a manufactory is a plane.. and I still am not understanding how to add all for plants to a starbase or port???

There are 4 different kinds of research bases that you can build by default. You can create your own research base using the ship designer that has all 4 types of components in it, or you can use the default designs to build individual weapons labs, high tech labs, etc. If you use the default designs only, make sure to build all 4 types of research bases.

nope not it either, this is a MANFACTURER, muy error was in that I thought you addd them to existing bases, its from the design screan, something new to play with!

Is it just me or is this gam epack a lot of detail? I am truly impressed by the economic and morale models, plus war, throw in some space creature and pirates, races that can love yo or hate you.. and lots of resources, what a fun toy!!!

Not trying to be mean but it almost feels like your not reading what I am saying completly also when I say to open the game and go look at the default designs go and do it as it will make alot more sense. It took me a couple of hours looking over the ship design screen and the default ships as well as the manual to figure it out so your not alone here.

The very first thing I said was a

manufacturer = plant

If you go look at a constructor ship in the ship designer you will see it has components called "plants" and their are 4 types.

Weapon
Energy
HighTech
Industrial

Thats the answer to original question. Just go into the game open the ship designer goto the constructor and hit edit then on the list that has the compnents of the selected ship ( the one on the right ) find the "plants" those are manufacturers then just forget you ever read the term manufacturer in the manual as its misleading as heck.

So to sum up replace the term manufacturer with Weapon plant/High Tech Plant/Industrial Plant/Energy Plant in the manual. Go and find those plants on constructors and spaceports on the default ships you start every game with. You do NOT have to add these to those default ships. If you want to create a custom spaceport or constructor you will. For instance you could create a new contructor and place more than 1 weapon plant (the defalt only has one) and ships/bases you build that have a large number of weapon components on them should be built faster by that constructor.

Once you understand this reread everything I wrote and read the ship design AAR as it will all make alot more sense.

Resources are used by Plants to make Components.

Components are used by Shipyards to make Ships and Bases.

Tbh, I think it's quite good this way, abit more in-depth on something
Most games just have the one component do everything with building
AMD Ryzen 7 2700X 8 Core @3.7GHz
2x16 GB Vengeance LPX 2666MHz RAM
MSI RTX 2070 Armor 8G
SSD Drive
