Sharing Exploration/Galaxy Map with allies or from/by spies

Post by Interesting »

I wonder, when you explore by yourself, sometimes you investigate and find stuff.

For example, if I can explore and find "The Way of the Ancients".

But what happens if I steal someones galaxy map, or if I buy it, or share it with my allies.

How do we "divide" the spoils of exploration?

never share your maps... there are too many rare and special items that you need to monopolize (aka, derelict ships, ancient ruins, etc) that the AI will make a beeline to the moment you let them have your maps.

As for way of the ancients, thats a reward you got from exploring a planet, it has NOTHING to do with sharing maps... the first person to discover that ruin gets the reward, the next ones will be told "our team found nothing here"...

Taltamir, thanks for this bit of info.

I hadn't realised the effects of swapping maps with the AI was that effective! [X(]

yea... knowing where things are is critical... there are ancient ruins you haven't explored, inactive ships you haven't claimed, world annihilator project you need to finish building, just good planets with nice resources they might settle, planets with independent populations someone might claim, and so on and so forth.
beware whom you share it with.. my first instinct was that it is worthless and i just sold it off and traded willy nilly.. now i know better... i build tons of explorers and i don't let anyone see my maps, ever.
