Can you pick where to place stations at planets?

When you build in space you pick a spot and things get built at that location. When building around planets I can sometimes get a station to build away from the planet but not all the time. Is there a way to select where they will be built?

I think where you click for the construction ship to build a station is the place where the station is built. I always try and build in the shadows so it dosn't cover the planet or move it to the side so I can see the beauty of the planet and not look like a pimple.

Thanks Davor, are you saying I should use construction ships to build bases around planets rather than use the rt click menu when you have the planet selected? I have not tried that.
Does the station/base get locked to the planet when you use construction ships to build them so it moves with the planet as it orbits?

What I usually do, is if I go through the Planner screen, I will go to that planet I select so this way I can tell the construction ship 1) what to build, like when I make a new mine, it dosn't make an older design and 2) I right click on the dark side of the planet and then use the menu, build and then select what I want it to build.
