That Great Bombardment Result

Post by topeverest »

I'm not much for posting results, but this one struck a chord considering how much discussion has been made over the subject and how hard it is to get a great result.

I was on the receiving end of this one... LONG LIVE the great bombardment...and OUCH! I would have much preferred to read about someone else's result.

The immaculate conception to be be sure...but there it is. I've asked my opponent to bronze his guns.

Was the airbase overstacked?

This seems to be much more likely when escorts are allowed to bombard. I guess it is because the ships get in closer and more of their weapons systems are able to engage. It is not something I would try where CD guns are present.

I just checked, and it was at the time of the attack by one group. Damn!

It was a bad turn for the allies all around in that theater. My surface fleet aborted rather than engage despite being comperable. None of my air naval attack orders were executed from any of the surrounding bases. His subs are impervious to my asw (all the time) and sunk several vessals in the turn. And I had several strong coastal artillery batteries that did not respond at all to the enemy bombardment (with a level 2 fort also). The failure of the CD was particularly bitter to take since the bombardment occured during the daylight.

I think we all have turns like this, but I'm happy this kind of turn doesnt happen frequently. I'd probably have a coronary if it did.
