Planet Luxuries

Post by dawilko »

Guys, in the past some of you have mentioned that its important to have 10 or so luxuries present to keep a capital happy and to prevent economy crash. How are you telling if these luxuries are present?

If you double click on the image of the planet in the lower left corner, after you have selected it. You can go to the cargo hold of the planet and see what resource are present.

Or, go to your Planner and, in the top pane, look to see how many luxuries you have a source of. The Private sector is usually good about delivering some to everyone so I just look there and count how many I have. If below 10, keep building on luxury spots.

10 is for full development (or 100+% development with ruins).

its not just the capital, every planet benefits from luxuries... the lifeblood of your economy is luxury resources.

Learn the images displayed on the expansion planner...
Colonize in THIS order:
1. Ancient ruins.
2. Independent populations (that don't hate you).
3. Most rare luxury resources.
4. Least rare luxury resources.
5. Most of other resources.
6. planets with nothing of note.

You should not deviate from that AT ALL.. that is, never colonize a planet with only regular resources when there are planets with luxuries you haven't colonized yet. Of course, later when you are rich and powerful you can go ahead and do it.

Note that I didn't list independant populations that do hate you... this is because it is a big "it depends"...
1. Are they able to colonize unique planets such as ocean, volcano, or ice planets and you currently don't have the tech OR another race capable of colonizing? this makes them very high priority but it is highly unlikely to be successful so beware! only do it if you can afford to. (and consider sending troops instead of colonizers... hurts your rep but it works).
2. Do you already have them / don't need them? ignore them.
3. Do they have a racial tech? letting them become an independent empire of 1 planet and then befriending them will mean they might eventually sell it to you. or trade it for you going to war with someone... It is worth it to go to war with an ally to get a racial tech...
I do not have a superman complex; for I am God, not Superman.
