Gamey (No Miller)

Post by Canoerebel »

I just saw my opponent's post regarding "Gamey or Not"?

I am guessing this is in reference to the massing of the Allied carrier fleet. If not, disregard the following comments (but please don't give away anything from Miller's thread. Perhaps Miller has concocted a wild scheme and is just checking it out).

If, however, he is protesting the massing of the Allied carrier fleet, a few points:

1. Miller has massed the KB throughout the game.
2. The Allies have taken it on the chin in carrier battles and from LBA.
3. Miller can put several thousand carrier and land-based aircraft on any one spot in the DEI making it very risky for the Allies to move forward.
4. We have essentially a single theater of operations - everything concentrated in the DEI.
5. Miller's airforce is amazingly strong for mid '44. Nothing like the real war.
6. He has kamikazees out the wazoo.
7. The Allies aren't stupid - both in war and in this game, faced with these circumstances the Allies would mass their carriers if that was the only way to protect their forces.
8. Even with massed carriers the Allies will be outnumbered if they venture anywhere near Miller's airbase concentrations - especially Mindanao and middle Java.
9. What else am I supposed to do?

I see no problem with it. You will probley lose the carrier battle anyway-massed carriers or not.

Nick jests. Miller was describing some venison that he consumed last night. We're swapping recipes for marinade.

He wanted to know if transferring Admiral Ackbar before the Big Battle against your Death Star was gamey. The consensus is, regardless of whether it's gamey or not, his transfer may mean that he becomes Ole Miss' mascot. So he nixed the transfer.

Tie's blow chunks...go direct for the X-Wings! Expand your research to the point of Infinity and move them up 300 years until this point in your game. I see NOTHING wrong with that!

BANZAI!

Oooppss...forgot you work for the EVIL side. SCRATCH above advice---build the Tie Fighters. They serve as good X-Wing targets.

apparantly you don't like facts. A careful analysis of all battles up to and including the Battle of Endor clearly show that TIE fighters always shot down more X-wings than they lost. The exchange rate was about 1.32221:1 in favor of the TIE. While B-wing fighters did score a positive ratio at Endor, analysis showed that the TIE's were at low power at the time after news of the Emperor's death depressed the pilots.
