What constitutes Strategic Value?

Post by Roller »

Strategic Value of colonies seems to be a major element of the game, determining overall progress as well as research speed. Still I cannot find a satisfactory answer on how to increase it except that population is a part of it. The manual or Enc. Gal. don't say, the forums seemingly neither.

So what influences "Strategic Value"? Resources? Bases? Traffic? Location?

AFAIK, population alone is used for research maximums, not strategic value.

I'm not positive, of course, but I would think that population + spaceport/defensive bases at planets would increase the strategic value. Also, high-dollar luxuries.

Desirability and Euro value increases worth making it a more valueable conquest.

Strategic is also sources of fuel near planets / population centers / valueable euro money making places??

I think we need Erik.

PS. I have ingested alcoholo and thought it worthwhile to include the word euro as many times as possible; being a European citizen and European minded I vehemently oppose dollars and america.
Note I even refused to use capital letters for those references!

I am rambling. Non the less the point stands.

More Euro's = more value also in a strategic sense.

PS. Hah! I did it again!!

Goodnight.

Please, Bartje, when you drink - don't post.

I'm from America; I capitalize it and love it. I don't hold it against you that you live in Europe or prefer euros to dollars. Please don't bring your bigoted ideas or politics into a game forum.

noo!! this would take out so much fun from reading forums! the internet would be a dull place without the occasional drunk posting

but i agree that getting some dev to answer what strategic value means would be easiest way to figure it out. at least the other values are obvious, but not this one

Back to the point;

I would like to hear from the devs how the game determines strategic value,

monetary gain & potential seems like a good value to take into account here but there **should** be more.

Shoudn't there?
