Just bought this

Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

Just bought this

I have to say, aside from the petty bickering and complaining, I have been drawn to this forum in search of info on this game over the last week. Ironically, the range of debates in regards to price on this forum are making this forum quite active and in a way are what initially drew me to this game. It's been a few years since I have made purchases from Matrix Games (I do believe SSG's Battlefront being the last one) and would check in from time to time to see what was new. Alas, Command Ops: Battle from the Bulge caught my eye.

Well, due to Adam Parker's "paradigm shift" and Chad Harrison's superbly crafted AAR I am now the proud owner of this game and I am enthralled with this virtual work of art. The sheer detail and work that have gone into this game are stunning! I am confused by the reaction to the price-perhaps because I have not been waiting for this one is part of that. I played HTTR back in the day and found it fun, but quickly grew bored due to the seeming "click-and-wait" gameplay.

However, upon watching the tutorials, tinkering with the new game features, and playing through the first tutorial, I have been officially blown away! My only regret is that I sat on the fence 4 days too long!

Its a series of games I've been spouting about to anyone who will listen and even to those who wont about it being THE most groundbreaking addition to wargames since the invention of the hex.

I'm so pleased that even at the price it had to be sold for its bringing in new wargamers who are really getting into the game and how realistic and indepth it is.

I hope all you who are enjoying the series or those who have bought the others but have just started to understand the game that you will continue to support Panther and make sure Dave can weave his magic for a long time to come.

I haven't posted much in the forums of this game or any of the games, prefering to just read what people have had to say (I own 11 of matrix's games). I have on the other hand, been looking forward to this game since the beginning. I purchased Command Ops: BftB the day of the release and thus far it has lived up to my expectations. This type of game beats the heck out of hex turned based games hands down.

While I'm not going to get into any of the petty childish debates, I do have to comment regarding the games PRICE. If anyone has followed this game from the beginning, you would know how many hours that has gone into this game engines development and new features and all of the bugs that has had to be questered before it could be released. Therefore, the price, while is a bit pricey, is not higher than what I have expected it to be. The game engine is solid and worth the selling price.

So if anyone is reviewing these post to determine if they should buy this game, I hope you will, I don't think you will be disappointed (I have purchased plenty $40 games that have not been worth a crap and if others are truthful they have as well). I fully agree with wodins post about how realistic and in depth the game is and that it is the most groundbreaking addition to wargames. So dig into your pockets and buy the game and help support future editions in the series, then dig in and enjoy Belgium.

Bought. Glad I bought. Also bought some nice wine the other day. Glad I bought.
Supply and demand will sort things out ultimately.
Best to you all,

I just got this too. There was no question about it - I was going to get it when it came out, and I'm just getting into the tutorials now. This is a real prize. Regarding price - I can't say I've ever gotten more bang per $buck$ from any other wargame series. I've been still revisiting HTTR and COTA. Yes there are other wargames out there that cover Arnhem and the Bulge, not so much the Agaean WW2 :) but they don't come anywhere close IMHO. I've held off buying games that may be more appealing pricewise, mainly because I figured that I wouldn't get anywhere near as much wargaming pleasure. The last 2 wargames I bought were quite disappointing in that respect. although they didn't break the bank, the cumulative cost and the fact that they did nothing further for me after the initial excitement wore off illustrate that point.
