Updating Race information.

Post by tjhkkr »

Can anyone point to me to a reference on what I am adjusting on some of the race values. When I increase a number such as for say friendliness, what direction (a lower number or a higher number) does what to the race behavior?

I am enjoying the game immensely especially building a mod...

I recommend bubblewrap's races editor, it's pretty much self explanatory, higher friendliness = more friendly, higher aggression = more aggressive.

EDIT: btw, welcome to the forum and good luck![:)]

Just keep in mind several things:

-If you want the AI to be competative combat wise you need an intelligence of 110+ (otherwise their ship designs are lacking)
-IF you want the race to be able to form pirates, then agression must be 115+.
-If you prefer to colonize rather than invade independent colonies, then friendliness must be higher than agression.
-If intelligence is less than 75 (IIRC), which makes them 'Extremely Stupid', the species will NEVER be able to achieve space flight.

Thank you.  The stuff above is REALLY useful to know.
I am doing a clone wars mod, and that allows me to make it work.
And I did now download bubblewrap's editor.  Thank you so much

Okay more mod questions.

(1) I have been using the paint utility on Windows for the images in question.  Has anyone used something better?
(2) In the customization guide, it gave us the numerics for creating the colors for say the engine exhaust (Blue 255) and for running lights (yellow 255)... is there a specific color code to use for the background.  Several of my modified ships have a white back ground that is really noticeable on the black game star field, and despite my using the purest white that I can create it is still there.  Any suggestions?
Thank you as always.

1) Try GIMP, it's freeware.
2) When opening a new file in GIMP, you have the option to set the background to transparent.

I'm very new to image editing, so perhaps a few of the more seasoned modders can offer us some tips?[;)]
