Rate of fire proposal

Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

Rate of fire proposal

Post by wodin »

I've been looking at the est editor and I'm not sure what others think but the high rate of fire seems low for some weapons...2 rounds a min' high rate of fire for Mortars...seems low...quite a few of them I thought where a little suspect...I've increased the MG42 rate of fire for my games....might make a mod if anyone is interested to increase the high rate of fire where I feel it's needed....all a matter of personnal preference....at the moment I always put my troops on high rate of fire and I've never run out of ammo yet which I feel isn't quite right...if I increase the high rate then managing your ammo would become important...at the moment I blast away on high rate all the time no problem, prob because the high rate of fire is in my opinion quite low for alot of weapons.

I petitioned for higher rates of fire during development but was denied. Dave will have to explain it, but the ROF in the estabs is a general parameter integrated with the combat results. i.e. tweak at your own risk.

If you play the Allies you will probably not see many shortages of ammo.

I think they said the rate goes up, at "Ambush Range" but have not tested to see how much.

If the rate of fire for all weapons is increased by a certain % then surely we will get higher casualites BUT have to be careful when to use high rate of fire....

It's worth a try...I've upped the MG42's so far and havent noticed anything negative as yet...

I just think having rates of fire at the moment is pretty pointless...everytime I give an order I tick the high rate and have never run out of ammo...might aswell just stay on high rate all the time...I want it so if you choose high rate to often you start to get into trouble with ammo shortage

Just a thought ...

From past experience, ROF seems to be tied to the rate at which fatigue builds. As such a high value for ROF may push a unit to exhaustion and automatic rest override behavior. It may be better to avoid or defer that transition even if it does reduce lethality.
