question for KB captains

Post by kanibal »

After reading page 167 of the maual, I am under the impression that the KB will have a high probability of uncoordinated air strikes when all 6 CVs are together in one TF? The are 387 aircraft in the original KB TF.

The manual says that the uncoordination chance is doubled if an allied TF in 1944 or later or a japanese TF any time and the number of aircraft in the TF is greater than 200 + rnd (200).[&:]

Am i missing something?

Thanks in advance for any clarification [&o]

You aren't missing anything. As you've stated, you will have an increased chance of uncoordinated strikes with more planes in one TF. However, until 1944, the KB is less affected by the coordination rule than their allied counterparts.

It's a risk but, unless you are facing a superior aerial force it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

IMHO, the worst case scenario is having a bunch of your Vals or Kates stumble into a CAP unescorted then paying the price later because the enemy carriers counter-attack. That is where you need to determine how you want to use the KB. Split it up or keep it together. There are plenty of threads on the forums highlighting both strategies. Simply find one you are comfortable with and go with it.

VonTirpitz, what makes you think the KB has some kind of reduced uncoordination effects before 1944?

Page 167 of the manual states that only allied TF in 1942 and 1943 suffer penalties for aircraft numbers >100 + rnd(100) and >150 + rnd (150) respectively. Japanese TF always suffer at >200 + rnd(200)
